Big news, gang!
I'm happy to announce that VoteBuddy(TM) is now online, and active in Arizona and Indiana. Other states will follow as "franchises" are awarded. The VoteBuddy website has an actual URL and a "V-3" redirect URL that's easier to remember. I suggest telling folks about the latter one....
Actual: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/KVC/VB/index.htm V-3: http://welcome.to/VoteBuddy
The concept is simple. Voters who have been holding their noses and casting ballots for the lesser of the Republican and Democrat evils no longer have to waste their votes on self-defense.
With a VoteBuddy (either a personal acquaintance who is "differently political," or a friendly stranger supplied by VoteBuddy from its database), now a voter can vote for the third party candidates she or he has been longing to support. VoteBuddies agree to stop voting for the major parties, so each of them can vote their consciences -- NOT THEIR FEARS!
The program is being "beta tested" in Arizona (in hopes of boosting both the unusual presidential election this year and some great local candidates) and in Indiana (where the Libertarian candidate for governor deserves some help, as do some other high-profile candidates). Special emphasis is being put on college students (with special web pages dedicated to them), and I'm hoping that students at ASU, UofA, and IU will quickly start promoting VoteBuddy to fellow students.
VoteBuddy is remaining essentially nonpartisan where third parties are concerned, but it is explicitly dedicated to breaking the two-party monopoly on American politics.
I'll be sending out press releases tomorrow, though I don't have many media contacts available on hand. I plan to send my press release in Word 97 format as an attachment to all the political activists on my email list, and I hope they will fax it to their local media.
You can also help get this rocket launched by visiting the VoteBuddy home page and copying the banner and link from near the bottom of the page. Put it on your website, and get your friends to do so, too.
Put a signature line on your emails: "Set your vote free with VoteBuddy(TM): http://welcome.to/VoteBuddy -- and help break America out of the Two-Party Rut! Vote your conscience, not your fears."
Let's get this thing going!
Thanks,
Kent Van Cleave
