- What is the RPG about?  If it's set in 1999, that's very different from one set in 1799. A horror-based RPG has a different 'feel' to it than a reality-based. Do a little reading to get a sense of the manners of the time. Familiarity with both versions of Sleepy Hollow, (Irving's and Burton's) is strongly suggested.

- What kind of characters are already there? In Titanic RPGs, there are always far, far too many crying-on-the-inside rich girls. Boring.  Lurk for a while, and get a feel for what's already being done; then try something different.
