Rajasaurus Narmadensis

Rajasaurus Narmadensis is the name of a dinosaur found in the Narmada river valley in India, in the western Indian state of Gujarat. The name means King (raja) of reptiles. Some articles and web sites translate its name as the "Regal reptile". That is incorrect. In Indian languages, raja means king.

  • Rajasaurus lived about 65 million years ago. The Indian sub continent joined the Asian land mass around 50 million years ago.
  • It was about 30 feet long and was about 8 ft. high at the hips.
  • It weighed about 3 to 4 tons.
  • Its skull is about 2 feet long.
  • Scientists believe that the Rajasaurus also roamed the Southern Hemisphere land masses of present-day Madagascar, Africa and South America.
