India's Prehistory

Prehistory is the period of Human history before the invention of writing. Prehistory comprises over 99% percent of our history, since writing was invented only about 5000 years ago. This website is devoted to India's Prehistory.

It includes a bibliography, a glossary and chronological information. It also has the table of contents of 2 of India's premier journals on prehistory and prehistoric art. Man and Environment is a journal of prehistory and quaternary studies. Purakala is a journal of prehistoric art. On the Indian subcontinent artefacts have been found all the way from pre-Acheulian times.
