Holy Toledo! A short a bus ride from Madrid brought us to the top of a solitary mountain where Toledo's magnificent cathedral honors the triumphs of the crusaders. Not far away is another church where the Inquistion was held.

A mysterious dark wooden idol, "the Virgin of Guadalupe," apparently motivated Spain's conquests and evangelism in the new world. The story of how it arrived in Guadalupe varies, but its effect on Guadalupe and the world was enormous. Its presence is the reason for the huge cathedral and monastery.

The cathedral steps and the central town square become the borders of Guadalupe's Bull Ring several times a year. Bullfighting defines the Spanish.
