Tatjana Kazan

My good friend Tatiana has asked me to write a biographical sketch, but I am no good at that sort of thing.  I suppose I could mention that I grew up in Europe, but that I've spent my adult life in the United States. As a consequence, when I am in Europe I feel positively American and when I am here, in Chicago, I often feel out of place. The other day I came across a quote from Novalis:  "Wo gehn wir denn hin?  Immer nach Hause."  ("Where are we going? Always home.")  I thought, that's it, isn't it?  No matter where we are or have been, this is the eternal direction, be the landscape ourselves, another human being, or geography, we are forever going home.
