Make plans to attend the
Annual Capitol Art Exhibit Reception
 February 12, 2003, 3:30 PM till 5:30 PM.

The Governor’s Exhibit runs in conjunction with the Student's Capitol Art Exhibit, Twin Towers Plaza Lobby January – February (Floyd Legislative Office Building, across the street from the Capitol).

These art works, we pray, will influence the Governor and Legislators to strengthen support for the arts in Georgia’s schools. GAEA’s top legislative goal (in conjunction w/other arts organizations) is to persuade legislators to include one credit for an arts class (art, music, theater, band, or dance, etc.) toward the high school graduation requirement which would allow an arts class to count when high school averages are calculated for post-secondary study and the Hope Scholarship. This would raise the status of at least one arts class from an Elective to the level of the Core Curriculum such as Math, Language Arts, Science, etc. We artists believe that when education of the whole child is required throughout the curriculum (i.e. arts education) this could help lead the world to lasting peace. Studies show that encouraging students to pursue creative activities facilitates positive outlets for rebellion. When creative products are preferred economically many depressed areas of the USA and the world could begin to flourish.
