In Keeping with the spirit of the Yupiit School District mission statement, all Akiak Schools' instruction, activities and events will be prepared and implemented as much as possible within the Yup'ik context. Whenever possible the Yup'ik Cultural Coordinator, elders, village leaders and others will be consulted such that the State standards and district curriculum will be accomplished in the Yup'ik context. This is a requirement. This is necessary. This is right.

Along with language and other aspects of Yup'ik culture, the Yupiit Regional School Board directed Akiak Schools to work toward the revitalization of Yup'ik drum and dance. The school will do its very best to address the Regional Board's vision of children celebrating their culture.
