TEA TREE

Melaleuca alternifolia

Background: Tea Tree comes from Australia and belongs to the Melaleuca line of the Myrtaceae family. The oil is produced by steam distillation of the leaves. The name Tea-Tree is said to have originated when Captain Cook first arrived in Australia, and the leaves from one of the many species of the plant was used as an alternative to tea.

Tea Tree contains at least 48 different organic compounds, many of which have rarely been found elsewhere. Melaleuca alternifolia has very strong antiseptic properties, is antibacterial whilst being non-toxic.

Properties: Powerful Antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antibiotic, detoxifying, insecticide, stimulating.

Physical Uses: Colds and flu, sinusitis, catarrh, sore throat, boosts the immune system, insect bites, cuts and wounds, spots, yeast infections, thrush, athletes foot, muscular aches, arthritis, mouth ulcers, cold sores, shingles and chicken pox.

Emotional Uses: Shock, fatigue and lethargy.
