Background: Myrrh is a member of the Burseraceae family and is native to Asia and North Africa. Myrrh is a gum resin which secretes naturally from the trunk, or when the bark is cut and is likened to frankincense. The Ancient Egyptians used Myrrh in their embalming process and also in rejuvenating facial masks.
Properties: Rejuvenating, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and expectorant.
Precautions: DO NOT USE DURING PREGNANCY.
Physical Uses: Rejuvenating to the skin, especially mature skin, helps to heal scars, wounds, helps circulation, menstrual problems, digestive problems like diarrhoea, flatulence and appetite loss. Is also very beneficial when treating respiratory conditions because of its expectorant properties.
Emotional Uses: Meditation, soothing, cooling.
