Background: Frankincense or Olibanum is a light coloured gum resin obtained from the bark of the tree. The trees grow in East Africa, the Middle East and India, and belong to the Bursesacae family. The term Olibanum is derived from “Oil of Lebanon” as it is native to the Middle East. The Ancient Egyptians used frankincese in their rituals and also to rejuvenate the skin.
Properties: Anti-inflamatory, astringent, antiseptic, sedative, comforting
Physical Uses: Skincare, mature skin, laryngitis, colds/flu, respiratory problems, catarrh, wounds, uterine problems, heavy periods, cystitis, haemorrhoids.
Emotional Uses: Meditation, anxiety/tension and stress, fear, nervousness, insecurity, paranoia, dealing with the past and is very comforting (especially in times of grief).
