CLOVE BUD

Eugenia caryophyllata

Background: Clove comes from a small evergreen tree belonging to the Myrtaceae family and are commonly found in Madagascar, West Indies and Zambia. The Essential Oil is extracted from the flower buds by steam distillation.

Properties: Antiseptic, analgesic, disinfectant, insecticide.

Precautions: Very potent oil which should be used with great care. Not ideal for use in massage as it can be highly irritating to skin. Use in very low dilution’s <1% (-1drop in 5mls of carrier oil).

Physical Uses: Toothache, digestive problems, sinusitis, muscular pain, neuralgia, severe respiratory problems, insect repellent, disinfectant.

Emotional Uses: Stimulating and warming.
