Background: Clary Sage is native to Italy, South Europe, France and Switzerland. It is thought that “clary” comes from the Latin word “clarus” meaning “clear”. In the Middle Ages, it was known as “clear eye” and was used to treat eye problems. Clary Sage was also used in Britain and Germany as an alternative to alcohol as it has intoxicating properties.
Properties: Antiseptic, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, emmenagogue, anti-inflammatory, calming, euphoric, tonic.
Precautions: Do not use and consume alcohol. Can cause drowsiness. Very sedating. Do not drive or operate dangerous machinery after use. Do not use during pregnancy. Use in a 1% dilution - large doses can cause contraindications.
Physical Uses: PMT, menopausal problems, hormone regulator, period pain, high blood pressure, uterine problems, Post Natal Depression, cramps, muscular spasm, digestive problems, oily skin, spots, inflamed skin, cell regenerating, hair loss, sore throats, flu, strengthens immune system.
