Background: Cederwood is from the Pinaceae family and was used in the preservation process of mummification by the Ancient Egyptians. The Ancient Egyptians also used Cederwood in their medicines and cosmetics. The oil is obtained by steam distillation of the wood of the tree.
Properties: Sedative, antiseptic, expectorant, antifungal, astringent, insect repellent.
Precautions: Do not use during pregnancy. May cause skin irritation.
Physical Uses: Respiratory problems; bronchitis, catarrh, coughs, lung congestion. Cystitis, kidney problems, oily skin, arthritis, rheumatics, dandruff and alopecia (hair loss).
Emotional Uses: Calming, balancing, stabilising and nervous tonic.
