episode six: other side of sounds of waves
The
Silver Noah is travelling through stormy skies. Pogo, the
innocent of the lot, jumps up in fear as lightning strikes close,
but Chongara
reassures the boy by saying the ship won't go down because of
some lousy weather. Arc keeps silent. It is only then when the
crew
notice that something is up. Suddenly, he opens his eyes and
says, "Fire is approaching."
Following
the Silver Noah is Elk and co inside the helicopter looking
machine. As they fly through the skies, Shu tells Elk to slow
down
otherwise they would run out of fuel. However, ignoring his
mentor's advice, Elk speeds up to try and catch up to Arc. Arc on
the other hand
tells his people to speed up as well, and that way they can lose
them.
Suddenly,
the engine on Elk's machine blows up, and Shu goes out to look.
As Elk looks up to the sky and sees the Silver Noah disappear,
his machine falls down from the sky.
[opening song]
It
opens with a report on the destruction to the statue of the
goddess and on the city. In response to the situation, the mayor
has declared a
state of emergency. The mayor and Clive are looking at the debris
of the statue, and it seems that they themselves are not
responsible, for
it was Andel's plan and he was the one who was inadequate in
gathering information. Also, Andel wants Galliano to report to
him as soon as
possible. However, the mayor leaves it up to Clive to do so. As
the mayor leaves, Clive looks up to the statue. He says,
"Guess we're in
tremendous debt now." He does not seem at all worried.
Elk
again is having the dream of when his village was burnt down and
the Silver Noah landing. But then he wakes up to find himself on
a
beach with the ship in the water. He then looks around and sees
Lieza passed out on the sand with Pundit watching over her.
Running
towards her, Elk then shakes her to wake up. Two people then
approach Elk and Lieza, a small girl and an oldish man. Elk is
still shaking
Lieza when the man tells him to stop moving her.
Later,
inside a resort looking house, Lieza thanks the man, whose is
known as Dr Vilmar. He tells her that she is fine, but it's
strange that her
body healed so fast. She just replies that it was a mistake. He
blandly agrees, and then says that since she is healed, she and
Elk should
hurry and leave the island. The doctor views them as being
suspicious, and doesn't want trouble being brought on to the
island.
Elk
is now sitting on the beach, deep in thought. However, the little
girl interrupts and asks what's wrong, but Elk replies: nothing.
The girl
then wants to take him around the island, since she knows
everything, and is discouraged when Elk tells her to leave him
alone. Elk looks
back to the girl and feels some guilt. He then asks her if he
could ask a question. She replies in a smile.
The
girl, whose name we know now as Lea, is seen to be asking people
for someone of a certain description. However she has no luck.
One of the men tell her that maybe he was washed away by the
waves, but is stopped when everyone looks to the side and sees
Elk
walking along the shore. As he approaches the group, Lea reports
to him that the person he was looking for wasn't on the island.
Elk just
smiles and says that that person is not easily killed.
Night
time has fallen on the island. As Lieza and Lea wash the dishes,
Elk is standing on the front porch and staring out at the sea.
Lea is
talking about her life on the island, and how she lives with Dr
Vilmar whom she calls granddad. The doctor is known to be an
outstanding
doctor, but Lieza asks if he was originally from somewhere else,
and why he came here. Lea doesn't know why, but she says that he
doesn't like the city, and also the people who come from the city
as well. Vilmar, who is also on the porch, looks out at Elk in
the corner of his
eye. He has a flashback. He is walking in a corridor and a child
is crying. Looking through a glass window, he sees three children
playing,
one of them Elk and another the girl who he left as he escaped,
Merryl. Vilmar's eyes are full of guilt. Then, back to the
present, Elk walks
into the house, and Vilmar stares at him. His eyes widen as he
says, "It couldn't be!"
Lieza
wakes up in the middle of the night and sees that Elk is not in
his bed. Walking out onto the shore, she sees him staring out at
the ship.
Lieza then sits down beside him and starts conversation. However,
he apologizes her for causing her injury, and starts voicing his
regrets
on chasing after Arc. Lieza stops him by telling him that she is
fine now, and inquires about him. Elk also says he's fine; he
just bumped his
shoulder. Reaching out her hands onto his shoulder she closes her
eyes and tells him to be quiet. A white light then surrounds her,
and as
the light disappears and she pulls away, Elk asks what did she
do. It is now apparent that she has healing powers.
Looking
up at Elk, Lieza wants him to tell her what had happened between
him and Arc. Elk then begins to tell her about his past. He grew
up in the peaceful village of Piruka. As a child he watched the
men practice their powers of the flame, and it was his dad who
was the best.
That power that they have was conferred by the sacred spirit of
fire, and that those people were ever grateful for it. One day,
the village
was attacked in the middle of the night. As Elk woke up, he heard
his father and grandfather talking. They did not know what the
attackers
would gain from destroying that village, but perhaps it was for
the statue of the sacred spirit of fire. There are those who
would use the
powers of the sacred spirits for evil deeds. Elk's father then
tells Elk and his mother that he would protect them, the statue
and the village.
However, as the village is being destructed, Elk runs out of the
house saying that he is going to help his father. Suddenly, when
he left the
house, a bomb was thrown at it, and behind him his house was
burnt, with it his mother and grandfather.
Elk's
father was one of the last who stood at the statue, protecting
it. He told the attackers that they would not get the statue, but
they in turn
shot them with their guns. Elk saw this and he ran up to his
father. More bullets were shot, but none hit Elk. His father, who
was near death,
told Elk to run away and save himself. However, Elk would not
leave. His father's last words were: "May the sacred spirit
of fire protect you."
The attackers then marched towards Elk and the statue in unison,
and as they did so, Elk summoned the power of the flame for the
first time
and killed some of the men. As he drooped to the ground, the
attackers saw that he had great power, and would then take Elk to
the White
House. He then blacked out.
Back
to the present, Elk continues with saying that everything began
that day. After he escaped from the white house, Shu took him in,
and it
was there when he found out that the Silver Noah was Arc's ship.
Lieza is now crying, but then Elk puts his hand on her shoulder.
He tells
her that it is for something for her to heal faster, and begins
to pull away but Lieza grabs his hand and places it back on her
shoulder. Elk is
looking confused but Lieza stares up at him and thanks him for
talking to her.
The
next morning the islanders help Elk to pull the ship to shore. As
Elk begins with the repairs, he explains that since he is a
hunter, he has
to know the know-hows of those types of things. He wants to fix
it as quickly as possible so that they can go back to Claudius.
Looking up at
the sky, he says that he knows Shu is alright, and if he was
fine, he would go back to Claudius. Lieza smiles and agrees, and
they then
begin their work on the ship with Lea helping.
The
scene is of Silver Noah now, flying through the sky. Arc is
looking out at the window, but Pogo comes along and they chat.
Pogo says
that it has felt like ages since they were on the ship, but they
would still follow Arc anywhere and forever. They don't have many
friends, but
one day people will show up and understand. Arc agrees, and says:
"Everything is just as the sacred spirit has guided
us." They then
head back to the others, but as Arc stops, he looks out at the
window and wonders if he is to ever meet Elk again.
[ending song]
End
of episode six: other side of sounds of waves. (does that even
make sense? perhaps it's meant to be "The other side of the
sound of
waves.")
