episode two: the beginning of fate
The story starts off with a voiceover by the same person who said the prayer.
Is
fate something that is predestined?
If so, what is fate trying to make people do?
People meet as if they are drawn together.
And they are torn apart from each other, without choice.
To meet, to part, and then to meet again. Each time, a new bond
is tied.
If this is what they call fate, then you will yet be guided into
another new meeting.
Fate begins its process.
As
this prayer is being said, the clip is of a man walking along in
the desert. He spots a boy who is at near death, and feeds him
some water
from his bottle. We then see close ups of their faces. The boy's
eyes flutter open, but falls unconscious again. The scene moves
onto a
repeat of the previous episode, where Elk breaks into the room
where Lieza is, and then to when Elk is in the net, and again,
sees Lieza
floating past. Again, a scene change, and a person who is
surrounded by a house of fire picks up a photo from the ground.
It is of Lieza.
We then see who the person who picked up the photo is, Arc.
[opening song]
It
starts off with Elk having a shower while listening to the news
on the radio. The news if of the incident that took place the
night before, but it
didn't seem correct. Also, it says it was the working of Arc and
the Silver Noah (but of course, it wasn't). Now we see a boat
that is beached
on the sand, and footsteps leading into the city. The city itself
looks awesome; the background scenes are all beautifully drawn.
And then
a massive statue that is hidden under white material stands tall,
only the eyes are uncovered.
Elk
is now complaining to his boss about his pay. It seems that it
was under the amount it was meant to be. The other hunters who
are in the
room are all chuckling, and taunting him. Nevertheless, another
sack is produced, filled with more money. It was sent by Mayor
Galliano in
appreciation of rescuing the hostages. He is the mayor of
Claudius, which is in the country (???) of Aldia, and the honour
of Aldia is riding
on the dedication ceremony of the Goddess Tower (the statue).
That is why Elk gets a reward, because of the tight political
time. But Elk
doesn't accept the money.
Elk
is then interrupted by a hand patting him on the head. Turning it
around, it is the man from the beginning of the episode, the one
who
saved the boy in the desert. His name is Shu. Shu goes and gets
his pay (which is much much more then Elk's), and everyone asks
to
work with him on the next job, even Elk. Elk then troddels off to
the wall, in search for another assignment. At this point, Elk
and Bibiga talk
about the boy. He was brought to the Hunter Guild five years
before by Shu, and it seems that Elk has turned into a good
Hunter.
Now
there is a flashback, with Shu looking over a younger Elk by a
campfire. Back at present time, Shu is telling Bibiga that Elk
asked to be
a Hunter, and he just lent him a hand. Very strange for a kid
wanting to be a Hunter though. Elk is looking at a poster of Arc,
and getting
quite pissed off. Seems that Elk has a vengeance against Arc. But
Shu stops this line of thought with a hand on Elk's shoulder. Elk
then walks
past another poster that was put up only that morning. It is of
Pundit, and it says that it has been attacking people. However,
Elk knows that
Pundit wouldn't harm anyone, and wonders why there is a warrant
against the dog. Shu asks Elk if he knows the monster, and Elk
asks
Shu to help him out. Of course he does. But at the same time, all
of the other Hunters are after Pundit because it was spotted. Now
it's a race.
Scene
cut, and now we see Mayor Galioano talking to Clive about the
statue of the Goddess. It seems that Clive does most of the work
for
Galliano, and is very soft spoken about it all. At the same time,
all of the Hunters are looking for Pundit and Lieza. The girl and
monster run
around the slums, trying to escape, and are eventually trapped.
But guess who comes to the rescue, Shu and Elk of course! But Elk
is
reminded of the past when he sees Lieza; he is running in the
forest, holding onto another girl's hand, Merryl. She trips over,
and tells him to
escape without her. Then spotlights appear around Merryl, and end
of flashback. But as the four (Elk and co) disappear, a man in
black is
watching.
It
is dark now, and they have escaped onto a beach. After some
introductions, they discuss why was she wanted, but are
interrupted by
many men in black. After they turn into Chimera, there is a fight
scene. It is also explained that the Chimera are man made
monsters, made
in labs. And in the fight, Elk and co are more successful. They
disappear as Shu throws a grenade or something. The men in black
then ring
up Clive, and tell him that they are unsuccessful. But they know
where they went. It seems to be a failure on Clive's part, very
rare of him to
screw up though. Then there is some ominous talk from the mayor.
Now
we see Elk and co hiding on the beach. Lieza asks if it is safe
for them to help her out, since they are both hunters. They reply
that this
is something they wanted to do. They are just passing time.
[ending song]
End of episode two: the beginning of fate.
