All through his life, Dimitri
has been fighting a constant battle to be accepted. He has spent his entire
life in low profile, as both a kitchen boy and a conman, and is tired of
being on the outside looking in. Dimitri believes money will solve all
his problems, and after hearing that the Empress would give away 10 million
rubles to those who could find the last remaining survivor of the Romanov
family, he believes that this is his chance to escape, and devises a brilliant
scheme to find a girl to play the part of the lost princess, Anastasia.
Dimitri is a witty and quick thinking young man, who is initially very
self-centred. Not at all concerned about Anya and her quest to find her
family, he attempts to use her only to obtain the reward. As the story
progresses and his hidden feelings for Anya grow, Dimitri repeatedly denies
it, believing that he is undeserving of the love of a Grand Duchess and
stubbornly tries to hold on to his belief that money is everything. But
eventually Dimitri is no longer able to hide his feelings and realises
that love and acceptance is something even money cannot buy. He changes
from a con man who only thinks of himself, to a man who will sacrifice
even his money which he longed for so much, just to see Anya reunited with
her family. |
