What is Who I Am, What I'll Become?
Well, it's a combination site for the WB shows "Angel" and "Roswell" and occasionally "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Those of you who are "Roswell" fans might know me from my other site, The Max and Liz Project, which I created in January of 2000.
To fully explain how this site came to be, I have to tell you how I first got into the wonderful world of writing fanfic. Bear with me. :)
When I started writing fanfiction, I didn't realize other people did this, too, ironically enough, because I had no access to the Internet. I started writing a story my junior year of high school, right after seeing the season finale of "The X-Files" fourth season, where the last line of the show was, "Agent Mulder died early this morning of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head."
There was no way that I was going to be able to wait for the season premiere, Nov. 2 (six months from then! AAHH!), so I started my own story. It was a crossover titled, "Early Spying Slider Files." I know, that titled sucks, but I was too eager to write to think of a decent one. It was a crossover of "Early Edition," "Spy Games" (which aired, like 5 times before it was cancelled), "Sliders," "E.R.," and "The X-Files."
Later, when I found access to the Web, I was doing a search on "The X-Files" and found a huge site with all kinds of fanfic written by ordinary people like me. Needless to say, I was thrilled, and spent all my free time reading the stories.
After writing a few stand alone "Sliders" fics, I began watching the WB show "Roswell." Shortly after that, I started writing Roswell fanfic, and started to build my own website (the ML Project).
It was late April, early May of 2000 when I first began watching another WB series, "Angel." They were already playing reruns of the show (which had just finished its first season run) when I started watching it. I loved it. It had suspense and humor and touching moments all wrapped into one (many of the same reasons I watch "Roswell"). It was only a few weeks later that I realized it was a spin-off of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." I honestly didn't have a clue that there was any connection between the two shows until I saw one of the crossover episodes, LOL. So I started watching "Buffy," too.
Over the summer I began reading all the transcripts for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" that I could. I watched all the episodes that aired, started recording them, and began processing all the facts in my mind. I had the urge to write "Angel" fanfic, but didn't have any ideas. That's when I remembered how much fun I'd had writing "Early Spying Slider Files." It was a huge crossover story with all my favorite characters...that's when it struck me.
I would write an Angel/Roswell crossover fic.
Well, halfway through writing, "Illusions," I realized that I enjoyed it so much, and had so many ideas, that it wasn't going to be possible to cram them all into one story. Hence, I created a series called, "Who I Am, What I'll Become."
Now. Let me give you the run-down on the couples in this series. For "Roswell," I'm a conventional shipper. I don't mind reading unconventional stuff occasionally, but I've only ever written one myself. I'm not good at writing Roswell U.C. fics. That means that in the "Who I Am..." universe, the conventional couples are as follows: Max Evans and Liz Parker, Maria DeLuca and Michael Guerin, Alex Whitman and Isabel Evans, and a possible Kyle Valenti and Tess Harding pairing. It's early in the series yet, so we'll see if something develops with that last pair. :)
As for the "Angel" side of coupledom. I'm an Angel/Cordelia shipper. I loved their scenes together since I first started watching "Angel," but it was the season finale, "Shanshu in L.A." that clinched it for me. Their relationship is a *big* part of the reason I watch "Angel." I realize that there are a lot of Buffy/Angel shippers out there, and probably still a lot of Cordelia/Xander or Cordelia/Doyle shippers, too, that absolutely despise the idea of Angel and Cordelia becoming anything more than friends. And that's fine. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and shippiness, so please don't flame me for mine. :)
And "Buffy" pairings. The Buffy characters aren't the main part of this series, and won't appear in all the stories, and I'm not sure which pairings I'll end up with for them. Time will tell.
This site is not, however, just about fic. There's also a section of wallpaper which I hope will expand with time. It's got both "Angel" and "Roswell" couples, and eventually I hope to do some with all of the characters. There is also a big links section which will guide you to other decent sites for "Angel," "Roswell," and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
