Maria DeLuca

Birthday: Unknown

Parents: Amy DeLuca (father's name unknown)

Siblings: None

Character History: Maria's father left when she was seven years old, and she has lived with her mom in Roswell ever since. Maria is best friends with Liz Parker and Alex Whitman. She has an infinity for aroma therapy and new age treatments such as herbal oils. She works at the Crashdown Cafe with Liz.

When Liz first told Maria the truth about Max, Michael and Isabel, she freaked out and almost wound up telling Sheriff Valenti because she was afraid of Isabel. Not long after that, she was assigned to work with Michael on a project for history. He wound up asking her for a ride to the highway and then tried to steal her mother's car when she got out. Maria told him that wherever the car went, she went. She was still afraid of Michael as they drove, until they got pulled over for speeding. Instead of telling the police officer that Michael had kidnapped her, she made up a story about him driving fast because she had a weak bladder and they were trying to get to the next rest stop. After the car broke down, they wound up getting a motel room, and actually bonded over their family situations.

After that, Maria found herself drawn to the spiky-haired alien, and him to her. They always went under cover together to investigate things. They wound up sharing their first kiss in the Crashdown Cafe while Maria was panicking about Liz and Max getting into trouble when they went off to talk to Riverdog. Michael kissed her to "calm her down."

The heatwave in December brought them even closer together for awhile. They used every spare moment to find a closet and make out. Later, however, when things got too intense for Michael, he broke up with her at the rave.

Michael came down ill during his participation in a Native American ceremony called the Sacred Sweat Lodge Ceremony. The ritual interupted the natural balance of Michael's health. Maria and Isabel took care of him while Liz and Max went to find Riverdog. Later, with the help of Max, Isabel, Alex, Liz and Maria, Michael was healed using stones that the fourth alien Nasedo had left that were from their planet.

Maria was hurt and angry when Michael hugged Isabel and Max, but didn't even acknowledge that she'd helped save his life. He wound up making her a napkin holder for her shop class so she didn't flunk her assignment, but she flunked anyway since she didn't turn it in. When Michael asked why she flunked she told him she didn't turn his in. She had kept it.

Maria tried staying away from Michael, and tried making him jealous by telling him and Max that she and Liz had dates with college men.

They managed to stay away from each other for awhile, and Maria tried to get on with her life until Michael showed up outside her bedroom window one night, standing in the rain, crying. Unable to resist her feelings for him, she let him in, and comforted him without asking questions. Michael spent the night with her (platonically) until Maria's mother found them the next morning.

Maria's mother gave her the sex talk, which Maria tried to cut short by telling her that she wasn't sleeping with Michael. Her mother was upset, afraid that Maria would wind up in the same position that she had been in when she was her age (married and pregnant).

Later, Maria found out from Isabel that the reason Michael had wound up at her house was because his foster father, Hank Guerin, had been beating Michael. She was horrified. It was thanks to Maria and her mother that Michael was released from jail, because they were able to verify Michael's whereabouts the night that Hank disappeared. Michael wound up getting his own apartment thanks to a court order that gave him permission to live on his own.

Liz and Max wound up back together after a long period of separation. Liz began having flashes of things when she and Max kissed. Maria went to Michael and they agreed to experiment and see if she could get "flashes" from him. She didn't, but she lied and said she did. They fought but wound up back together.

Tess Harding came to town, and they later learned she was the fourth alien in the pod chamber where Max, Michael and Isabel had been born.

Maria overheard Michael and Isabel talking about Isabel being pregnant. She was horrified and confronted Michael about it. He informed her that he hadn't slept with Isabel, but they'd been dreaming about one another and all he cared about was that Isabel was okay. They fought some more, and he later ended up apologizing to her for some things he said.

After Max's abduction by Agent Pierce of the FBI Special Unit, Michael wound up using his powers to stop the agent from killing Sheriff Valenti, who had turned out to be on their side all along. When he used his powers, however, it ended up killing Pierce. Michael told Maria that it was too dangerous for her to be around him, and that he loved her too much to let her get hurt because of him.

Some of My Favorite Maria Quotes:

"Catch them? Liz, we're in a jetta!" -Maria, "Pilot."

"And you know what else doesn't, like, particularly please me? These powers. How do we know they can't just wiggle their noses and poof us into oblivion?" -Maria to Liz, "The Morning After."

"The point is that we don't know anything about these...Czechoslovakians. Are they good Czechoslovakians? Bad Czechoslovakians? We don't know. Are they just random Czechoslovakians? For all we know, they don't have their passports." -Maria to Liz, "The Morning After."

"Well, think about it. She takes attendance. What substitute teacher takes attendance? I mean, God, the whole thing is so Roswellian. I'm telling you, Liz, she's been sent here." -Maria to Liz about Topolsky, "The Morning After."

"Oh, uh the keychain. My mother makes them. I'll tell her to stop." -Maria to Isabel about her alien keychain, "Monsters."

"Oh my God. You're kidnapping me! No, wait! You're abducting me!" -Maria to Michael, "285 South."

"Come on. Wiggle your nose, blink your eyes, do the Samantha-Genie-Alien thing. Come on!" -Maria to Michael, "285 South."

"It's like the porno version of Aladdin." -Maria to Michael, "285 South."

"So you get hungry just like the rest of us?" -Maria to Michael, "285 South."

"...What Michael and I share, well, it's non-verbal. Michael is the type of person my mom likes to refer to as a vibrator." -Maria to Liz, "Riverdog."

"Relax. God, you guys act like I've never tailed someone before." -Maria to Michael and Isabel, "Blood Brothers."

"Well, if it isn't Prince Charming and...Quasimodo." -Maria to Liz about Max and Michael, "The Balance."

"I'm teflon, babe." -Maria to Liz, "The Balance."

"Michael, we saved your ass, okay? You were all flunked out, sweating, you know, running 112 degree temperature and like, dying. I could have walked away and never looked back. But I didn't. I did not walk away. There I was, dragging your sweaty, gross body through the Indian Reservation, you know, getting my clothes all muddy and...and worrying. Cause, you know, I...I really...I though...you weren't going to make it. I went out on a limb for you...and you hug Max and Isabel, and it's all about the three of you. I mean...I mean, were you...were you even gonna thank me?" -Maria to Michael, "The Toy House."

"It's cheating. You can't just wave your hand over a problem and make it go away. Why don't you figure out what's really going on with you, Michael? Why you can't just piece together an apology like any normal human being. Oops. Maybe *that's* the problem." -Maria to Michael, "The Toy House."

"Dude, I told you. My idea of the great outdoors is rolling the windows down in my car on the way to the mall." -Maria to Liz, "Into the Woods."

"Oh great. Another one being sucked into the alien abyss." -Maria to Liz, "Into the Woods."

"Michael and I just kissed. Ok, fine. We did a little more than kissing. But, look, I wasn't getting visions, and I didn't have glowing hickeys and rashes and...look. Liz, the bottom line is that we don't know what this is about, all right? Female spiders can, you know, like, bite off the males' heads after they mate. What if they need someone to mate with to get certain information, you know? And then...blltt! You know?" -Maria to Liz, "Sexual Healing."
