Character History: Kate Lockley is a detective at the LAPD. She first met Angel while working undercover to find a killer. She found him at the scene of one of the crimes, and when she tried to arrest him, he fled. After finding out he was innocent, they became friends and they would rely on each other for help. Even after she learned he was a vampire, they remained allies, though knowledge of the dark world he fought against shook her up.
Kate and her father had a lot of problems (he was also a cop, but soon retired). Unfortunately, before they had a chance to really work things out between them, her father was killed by some vampires whom he was in illegal dealings with.
Kate has since devoted her life to wiping out the evil beings (vampires, demons, etc) that dwell in L.A. and has been somewhat excluded from the rest of the LAPD. Her fellow officers make fun of her for her belief in the supernatural. She wound up blaming Angel (and his "kind") for the death of her father and has harassed him on several occasions.
The character of Kate Lockley is played by the talented Elisabeth Rohm.
