The Buffy the Vampire Slayer Characters

Buffy Summers

Buffy Summers is the Vampire Slayer (aka "The Chosen One"). She lives in Sunnydale, California. She is Angel's ex-girlfriend. After the two of them made love Angel lost his soul and reverted back to his vampire side, Angelus. She sent him to hell even though his soul had been restored, in order to save the world. Angel was sent back to earth by the PTB, and he eventually left town so Buffy could move on with her life. She is now dating Riley Finn.

Buffy is played by the talented Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Xander Harris

Xander was born and raised in Sunnydale, California. He has been in love with Buffy since the day he met her. He is best friends with Willow Rosenburg, and though Xander was dating Cordelia Chase at the time, and Willow was dating Oz, the two of them wound up having a bit of an affair (they never did the deed but they kissed on several occasions). They ended their affair when Oz and Cordelia caught them kissing. Cordelia ended up getting impaled as she fell through a stairway trying to get away from them. Oz and Willow got back together eventually, but Xander and Cordelia never did. Cordelia left town after high school graduation, and Xander eventually began seeing Anya.

Xander is played by the talented Nicholas Brendon.

Willow Rosenburg

Willow was born and raised in Sunnydale, California, and had a long-term crush on her best friend, Xander. Eventually she began dating Oz, who turned into a werewolf three nights a month. Though she loved him, she loved Xander, too, and when they became attracted to one another, she and Xander wound up kissing on several occasions. They did, however, get caught by their significant others, though she and Oz ended up back together. Willow is also a witch; she is the one who was able to cast the spell that gave Angel his soul back though it took effect a few moments too late. Last season on Buffy, we found out that Willow was gay, and she began dating Tara.

Willow is played by the talented Alyson Hannigan.

Rupert Giles

Rupert Giles is Buffy's Watcher. A watcher is trained by the Watcher's Council in England. He is someone who trains the Vampire Slayer and teaches her and prepares her for battle by doing weapons training and researching prophecies and identifying demons. Giles has been a good friend of Buffy's and of her friends (the Scooby Gang or the Slayerettes). He fell in love with Jenny Calender, who they later learned was of Gypsy descent, and was of the same tribe that Angelus had killed the daughter of. When Angel turned evil, Jenny tried to find the spell to give him back his soul, and when she succeeded, before she had a chance to recast it, Angelus killed her and left her in Giles' bed for him to find when he came home. Angelus later tortured Giles to try and get information about how to awaken the demon Acathla so he could suck the world into hell.

Giles is played by the talented Anthony Stewart Head.

Riley Finn

Riley was born and raised in Iowa, and left to go to Sunnydale for college. He was part of a militia group called the Initiative that hunted demons and performed experiments on them so they couldn't hurt humans. He eventually left the group when they caught Willow's ex-boyfriend Oz, who was a werewolf. He is dating Buffy Summers, and has no kind feelings for her ex-boyfriend Angel.

Riley is played by the talented Marc Blucas

Spike

Spike (whose human name was William) was turned into a vampire by the crazy vampire Drusilla. The two of them were lovers and companions for over a hundred years until she left him when he plotted to kill Angelus, whom he was jealous of. He was one of the most violent vampires to ever walk the earth, and has killed two slayers in his time. He has tried to kill Buffy on more than one occasion, and Angel, as well. He was caught by the militia group the Initiative, and they implanted a chip into his brain so that he can't hurt humans without having an immediate and intense migraine. He can, however, fight demons and other vampires because they're not human, and he has actually helped the Scoobies more than once.

Spike is played by the extremely talented James Marsters.
