Aquaman's life as king and hero has been wrought with great triumph and tragedy. As an infant, the waterbreathing Prince Orin, heir to the Atlantean throne, was abandoned on a reef to die in the receeding tide. He was saved and raised by a dolphin, Porm. A kindly lighthouse keeper, Arthur Curry, taught him the ways and language of the surface world and Orin took Curry's name as his own. He met the Flash, was dubbed Aquaman, and helped found the Justice League of America. With Aqualad, later called Tempest, he became known as protector of all the oceans and its creatures. Orin always returned to Poseidonis to be their king. He married Mera, a queen from another dimension. Their first child died, Mera left him, and his kingdom has been lost and regained. Throughout all the tragedy and triumph, there has never been a question that he is the King of the Seas.

What would you do if you were a ghost?
I would walk through walls, like the Flash used to, I guess. Or I could haunt the corporate offices of offshore oil drilling companies to make them pay for the suffering they've caused in the oceans of the world.
What was the last thing you used the Web for?
I was looking up some information on freshwater amphibian species the other day. I'm not sure if I can communicate with them with my telepathic powers. I mean, they spend some time in the water, but it's freshwater--I don't know. I think I'm just going to have to give it a try.
What's the closest you've come to being arrested?
Well, every time Starro gained mental control of large numbers of humans, he would take over the police, too. So cops with purple starfish on their faces have been after me on more than one occasion. Also, one time I was in an alternate dimension where the Justice Leaguers were evil villians who were hated by the international community. The authorities there put me on trial for crimes against humanity, not knowing that I wasn't the Aquaman they were after. Actually, that happened a few times.
What's the wierdest thing you do when you're alone?
Talk to fish, obviously.
