Wonder and Awe

Ever since I can remember I have been influenced by nature. When i was young my dad used to take us hiking in the woods, nothing special but i always had fun. As we would be walking he would point out certain bugs, birds, trees, animals, and even plants. some of my earliest memories i have been in forests, like when my brother ran away from my dad. the first time he took all the kids, me my sister and my brother out together without my mom. My brother for fun just started to run and my dad couldnt carry my sister and me to run after him. After searching for a couple hours my mom, whom was called by my dad, found him throwing stones into a creek. This was at powder valley , one of the places I have been taken alot to hike because my dad likes this area. I can remember vividly the many colors of the forest on this day in autumn, red brown yellow green orange purple.
In the Boy Scouts I have been able to go to different areas of the United States and see some beautiful nature scenes. Two summers ago my brother and I went to Florida, for the boy scout camp Florida Sea Base. At the sea base we set sail on a boat for a week, stopping at a couple snorkling areas on the way. These snorkling areas were at coral reefs. These places were absolutly beautiful, with vibrants colors and much wildlife, We could turn our head and we would see 10 different kinds of fish just swimming next to eachother. It was alot of fun and it made me appreciate nature even more.

Nature can also be relaxing for me. I am able to just sit out there, in a forest and just think. Its a great feeling to just be able to think and not worry about anything, except for the occasional tick or mosquito. I just think of my life, how it is going, where it will hopefully be in 10 years. The nature because there isnt many loud noises just helps me relax and I really enjoy that.
