Canikin
Similar
to the werewolves of lore, the Canikin are a mix of dog and
man. Originally from Africa, they moved north after they were
declared heretics by the Egyptians, slowly across the arabian
peninsula, then eastward across Europe to Britannia - leaving
numerous roving tribes in their wake. Some of these tribes
came naturally to Christianity, discovering it directly as
humans did (though from a distance), while others have come
to it through connection and some believe in the same 'traditionalized'
style Christianity (as Gnomish scholars call it) that their
Ursakin cousins follow. Canikin can be Fighters, Rangers,
Druids or Theives.
Canikin
are roughly the same shape and build as men, but have yellow,
feral eyes. Their hair is almost always brown (though tribal
leaders often have black hair) and they wear their hear long
with ragged beards (smaller and better kempt that the beards
of the ursakin). They have more body hair than usual, but
not a prodigious amount.
Canikin
have a highly developed sense of smell, and can detect approaching
living things from well into the distance (depending on the
wind). Like the Ursakin they have hands that are similar to
paws, and can not make use of large human weapons (however
they are able to use small and medium weapons with ease).
They never wear armour heavier than studded leather as they
find it slows them down terribly, but otherwise fit into standard
human armour and clothing. They have a base speed on land
of 17. They are exceptionally dexterious and nible (+2 DEX)
but are often rash (-2 WIS).
