"And war broke out in the heavens;
Micheal and his angels fought against the dragon.
And the dragon and his angels fought back;
But they were defeated,
And there was no longer any place for them in heaven.
The great dragon was thrown down,
That ancient serpent
Who is called the Devil and Satan,
The deciever of the whole world, he was thrown down
To earth, and his angels were thrown down with him
-Revelations 12: 7-9

Welcome to the Holy Wars

Avikin
Distinct among the beastkin, the avikin are not mammlian at all, but are instead distinctly avian. Like birds their reproductive cycle is geared toward laying eggs, and their bodies are designed for flight. They are more or less completely Christianized, having adopted the religion formerly in a tribal council shortly after the begining of the Holy Wars. Avikin can be Fighters, Rangers, Druids or Bards.

Unlike the other beast kin, avikin are quite distinct from humans. Their bodies are very bird-like, complete with a beak in place of a nose and mouth, wings which double as hands when needed (they are equipped with tiny talon-like appendages) and legs which look much like a hawks legs. They are as short as gnomes, but much more lithe.

Avikin can attack enemies with their beaks, dealing 1d3 damage - however on an attack roll of 19 or 20 they have the option of attack their opponents eye. If they attack the eyes the target loses sight in that eye until it is healed and attacks with a -2. A second blinding attack renders the foe completely blind and helpless. Because of the natural awkwardness of their talon-hands Avikin can not use bow weapons or large human weapons, and suffer a -2 penalty when using medium human weapons. Avikin can not wear armour (as it inhibits their ability to fly) but are naturally lithe and quick and have a natural AC of 8. The can fly at a rate of 27 with a manouver class of C, but are very clumsy when trying to walk (movement rate of 3). They have accute vision which allows them to see twice as far as most humanoids, and are highly intellegent (+1 INT), however their hollow bonestructure makes them highly susceptable to injury (-1 CON).
