Review by Marcia Zimmerman

Kristi's two solo pieces hit me two different ways. According to the program, both were choreographed by Sandra Bezic yet to me, "Bridge Over Troubled Water" seemed complex and technically challenging while "Smooth" consisted of a lot of wiggling on ice. There was a collective gasp when Kristi hit her final arabesque position at the end of "Bridge." In contrast, I wondered whether a lot of the whistles at the end of "Smooth" came because of her costume (echoing Kurt's wolf-whistling at her during the transition.)

For anyone that's seen "Simon & Garfunkel" in its entirety, I have to ask: did this set of programs remind anyone else of.. well.. a death? I mean that in the nicest way possible and I thought they pulled off some truly beautiful skating. You have Scott celebrating life in "You Can Call Me Al," and then it seems like Scott flashes back in "Me and Julio."  "Cecilia"/Katia is the girl he never got.

When the three couples came out in all-black for "Sounds of Silence, it was as if they were spirits swirling through Scott's dream... and when Kristi glided out in wafting white for "Bridge," I thought she might be an angel come to ease his soul. "Old Friends" was a lovely flashback except I wonder what mood Simon & Garfunkel were trying to create with the dissonant music during the instrumental (before the skaters hit the synchronized axel).
