Ambassador Ruperto M. Dizon(Chief of Mission, Class II)-- Ambassador Ruperto M. Dizon arrived in Amman to formally re-establish the resident Philippine Embassy in Jordan (temporary closed in June 1993) on 16 April 1998. He presented his Letters of Credence as Philippine Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal on 10 May 1998. He has been in Government Service continuously for 39 years now (Congress of the Philippines—House of Representatives, until 1973; Office of the President of the Philippines,1973-74; and Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs, 1974 to date). He previously held the following positions in the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs/Foreign Service: Director for Financial Planning and Management (1977-78); Director for Central Europe (1986-87); Executive Director/Acting Director General for Fiscal Services (1987-88); Director for South America (1995-98). 3rd/2nd/1st Secretary, Philippine Embassy, Buenos Aires (1978-86); Vice Consul/Consul/Consul General, Philippine Embassy, Buenos Aires (1978-86); Charge d’Affaires, a.i., Philippine Embassy, Buenos Aires (1981-84, 1986). Consul/Executive Officer, Philippine Consulate General, NY (1988-95, Acting Head of Post—1990-91). He has been official delegate to several international conferences and regional meetings. He is a Certified Public Accountant since 1963 and Career Foreign Service Officer(since 1977. Born in Magalang, Pampanga, Philippines on 27 March 1940, he has been married since 1969 to Maria Erlinda Felix-Dizon (a Professional Teacher since 1968), with whom he has four (4) grown-up children: Jose Noel (MBA, St. John’s U, NY); Ian Julius (MBA, Manhattan College, NY; Maria Gizela (BS Ed./Applied Psycho, Boston College); and Maria Johanna (3rd Year, BS Bio, State University of NY). He is proficient in Pilipino, English and Spanish. He has received the following distinctions/awards: Graduated as Valedictorian/Elementary-High School; Entrance Scholar/”With Honors,” Philippine College of Commerce, Manila; (1957-59); Working Student (1959-61); University Scholar (free tuition), Far Eastern University, 1959-61; Distinguished Pampanguenos in Government Service (1987); Argentine Decoration “Orden del Libertador Jose de San Martin” (1989); DFA Loyalty Service Silver Pin (25 years of service, 1974-99).
