Christopher Pike
Kevin McFadden (I think that's how it's spelt), or better known as Christopher Pike, has been my favourite author for, oh, about 3 years now. My sister was the person who introduced his incredible books to me, after she read "Eternal Enemy" and loved it. The first book I read (or almost read) was "Spellbound", and I remember I couldn't finish it for some reason, I think because I had to return it to the library or something. Anyhoo, so one night, my sister told me the remainder quarter of the book in a detailed account of the happenings. There's something about night time isn't there, it seems to exaggerate emotions, well for me anyway. I cried. It was the first time I had cried after reading (and hearing) a book, and I can't even remember now why I sobbed so much. Ugh, such a feeble girly thing to do.
And ever since then, I've loved his books. According to most people, I "should be reading adult books now". Pike's books are classed as "teen fiction" or teen something, but I don't care. To those people, I say "Puh". I don't think all of his books are amazing, but most of them are. My favourite all-time books have to be "The Last Vampire" Series and the "Final Friends" Series. I began reading "The Lord of the Rings" and "Harry Potter", being encouraged by the media hype about the books and movies, but I haven't yet finished them. I was enjoying Harry Potter more, but I think I'd like Lord of the Rings if I had read more than 1/6 of the book hehe.
I wish I could write like Pike... I wish I was like some of his characters. I'm currently thinking about writing a novel, and I SO hope to actually get it finished, because I was also writing a script for a movie, but I've lost it now. Ah well. More of Pike's books should be made into (good) movies. Only one that I know of has been made into a telly film, which is LAME, despite the fact that Pike was the producer or something. TLV Series should be made into a movie, because the excellent thing about the books is that Alisa's past is revealed more and more as the series progresses, so the reader builds on the knowledge about her character, and grows to like her more. The principle is similar to how Star Wars was released, whereby the past about Anakin and Luke was revealed after each episode was released. It works really well. Ooh, Hayden Christensen makes a gorgeous Anakin.
Ahem. Ok back onto why I like Pike. The answer is simple: because I just do :)
