L&B is Formed

Lois & Brenda come in to Kelly's with papers and are talking about the assets of starting a business.

B: (at counter) Ruby?
Ruby: Yes?
B: Can we get some coffee?
R: Sure.
B: And I'll have some pecan pie. Oh, this is Lois Cerrullo, my new business partner.
R: Oh, we met before- at the wedding- and you were in here the other day with Ned.
L: You know Eddie?
B: Uh, Ruby knows everybody. (pulls L to a table) And everybody knows Ruby. She's kinda like the surrogate mother to Port Charles. (L laughs) We all love her a lot. Ruby, I'm desperate for that coffee.
R: And you Lois?
L: Coffee but nothing else thanks. (to B) So do you think Mrs. Q. was really interested?
B: Listen, she's very interested-and she has the bucks, but she's no pushover.
L: Hmm...(smiles big) what would you do if you were filthy rich?
B: Have a lot of fun.
L: (sighs) I dunno. A little money might be fun, but there are things money can't buy.
B: Like what you have with Eddie?
L: Was I gettin' all misty over here?
B: (playing w/ her diamond bracelet) Sonny can be so cynical, you know? He claims that you can buy anything.
L: Mmm hmm. Enough bout men. Let's get b-(B's not paying attention, probably thinking about Sonny) Hello? -back to business ok? I want you to take a look at these figures I set up.
B: Alright, ok .... this is so much. I mean I wasn't even in the ballpark. Alright, where can pare this down if we have to?
L: Pare this- (moves her chair next to B) Brenda, record companies do not come cheap, ok? I mean look we're gonna have to have a big board, at least an SSLG series, ok, with total recall, at least 64 inputs (S walks up behind them) then we gotta have 2 top of the line speakers, 2 big reds- you know, to impress the clients.
B: Wait-
(S leans over) S: I'm already impressed

(S sits in the middle w/ a cup of coffee)
S: Your own record label?
L: Why not? I mean, why give the middle man 30%?
S: Who's backing you?
L: Brenda's department.
B: Yeah, I had an investor all lined up but they pulled out.
S: Who was that?
B: My sister. She's gonna regret it when we go platinum. Someday she'll be coming to me for money.
S: You have somebody else in mind?
B: There's a lot if money in P.C. A lot of the Q's are very interested, especially Mrs.Q. And of she ends up turning us down I think we should approach Lee Baldwin.
S: I might know someone.

L: It makes perfect sense Sonny would have connections that might wanna invest in a record label.
B: So who? How do we get a hold of them?
S: Try reaching across the table.
B: What?
L: Sonny, for real, you've got that kind of capital?
S: Well, that depends. You convince me the deal is solid, I could consider such an investment. (L&B smile really big)

L: That is a really sweet offer and all but I mean we are talking major bucks here.
S: Yeah, so?
L: SO what we have in mind here is one big investor, not a bunch of little inventors trippin all over each other.
S: Well that works for me. Hell if the deal's solid, I don't wanna be scattered with a bunch of wingtips.
B: You could really do something like this?
S: If I choose.
B: I had no idea you had that kind of money.
S: There's a whole lot you don't know about me, Brenda, including how the music business has fascinated me my whole life.
B: You're right, I didn't know that about you.
S: But then again, you wanna start off small. You don't wanna throw all your money into a whole till you know how deep it is. Who you gonna get to run it?
L: I'm gonna run it.
S: By yourself?
B: No, with me.
S: Really, and what do you know about running a record company?
L: I know plenty. As a matter of fact, if the last 1 I worked for had listened to me, they'd still be in business.
S: How much do you need for startup?
L: Uh, ok, we'll put together a full blown proposal for you.
S: Include everything.
L: Oh yeah, down to the last staple.
S: And I want to hear the artists you're considering.
L: Well do you know the Idle Rich?
B: Yes he does.
L: Alright, it's my turn to ask questions now. So Sonny, this capital you say you can get your hands on, where's it come from?
S: It's clean.
L: Look, Sonny, we're old friends, on the bible, I'm not about to put my heart and soul, not too mention Brenda's, only to discover we're in bed with the wrong people and in trouble with the regal stature.
S: The money's clean ladies, profits from my club. Now you convince me we should be doing business together, I'll convince you the money's squeaky clean-all taxes paid- we got a deal.
L: Great, I'll get those figures to you pronto. In the mean time, I am gonna call my lead singer and tell him that we are on our way!(starts to get up, B pulls her down)
B: No wait, I have to make a really important call so I'll track him down for you. (gets up)
L: Oh, sure, ok.
(B goes over to phone but Ruby waves her off)
R: (on phone) Luke, it's me. I don't know where you are but Bobbie just called form the hospital. BJ's been in some sort of accident. I'm on my way. She wants both of us there. (hangs up)
B: Oh Ruby is there anything I can do?
R: Close up for me, would you honey?
B: Absolutely, and I'll say a prayer for BJ.
R: Thank you. (leaves, B is still standing at the counter looking worried)
