Sonny And Karen's Second Date
Thank you MBC for Contributing the pics and transcripts!
(Karen knocks on the door. Sonny
opens it.)
K: "Hi, you're ready?"
S: "Yeah I'm ready, make yourself comfortable."
K: (walks in) "What do you mean? I thought… I thought you
said…"
S: (walking past her) "Yeah I said we were going to the finest
restaurant in town, this is the place." (turns to look at her)
"Invitation only." (smiles)
"Are you disappointed?"
K: "Surprised."
S: "I swear to ya I'm a really great cook."
K: (smiling) "Well if you say so."
S: "I'll make you a deal, come on." (takes her hand and leads her
into the kitchen) "If you don't agree that this is as good as anything
you'd ever find in Milan, I'll take you to any restaurant you want."
K: "That's great but I've never been to Milan."
S: (smiling) "Well we're just gonna have to fix that."
K: (smiles. He brings a wooden spoon filled with sauce up to her mouth, but
blows on it before she can taste it. She does) "It's good."
S: "I told you."
K: "Guess you're pretty sure of yourself aren't ya?"
S: "First rule of survival." (Turns around and picks up two glasses
of wine from the counter) "If you don't believe in you how can you
expect anyone else to?" (Turns back to her)
K: "You know it could use a bit more oregano."
(He cocks his head to the side and smiles like "Yeah okay!" Stone
comes into the shot)
St: "Uh, sorry Sonny. Jack needs you."
S: "Jack… Jack always needs me, he can't make a decision." (Stone
shrugs. Sonny sighs and places the two glasses of wine back on the counter)
"Keep Carrie entertained okay? I'll be right back." (He kisses her
cheek)
(Stone and Karen talk about Crystal. Sonny comes back)
S: "Whoo."
St: "That was fast."
S: "All he needed was a simple yes or no. It was yes."
(Looks at Karen and smiles) "Did you miss me?"
K: (jokingly) "Every minute."
S: "I need to get you a little more wine." (Touches her shoulder
and goes back to that damn counter) "Stone can you do me a favor?"
St: "Sure, anything."
S: "Keep an eye on Jack, he makes me nervous. Dumb questions make me
nervous."
St: "I'll take care of it."
S: "You know I swear to ya, I don't know what I would do without you around
here."
St: "Lucky for you, you don't have to find out."
S: (To Karen) "Did you hear that? Lucky for me?" (Playfully
punching Stone and smiling) "Get outta here!"
St: "I'm already gone. Bye Carrie."
K: "Bye."
(Stone leaves and Sonny comes over with the wine. *Finally!!!* He hands it to
her.)
S: "I think you'll like this. I keep it for special occasions."
K: "Well I'm not much of a wine expert."
S: "Well I'm just gonna have to teach you the fine points. The best things
in life need to be acquired then nurtured before they can be fully
appreciated."
K: (takes a sip) "Mmm, it's smooth. Very smooth."
S: "You learn fast." (Takes a sip)
K: "Why do you have to go through all this trouble?"
S: "Why do you say that all the time?"
K: "Do I?"
S: "I send you flowers, they're too much trouble. The limo was too much
trouble. Now this. You need to learn to expect the good things in life Carrie.
Take them like you deserve them and you know why?"
K: "Why?"
S: "Because you do."
Scene 2
(Sonny and Karen are looking at each other. He takes a deep breath.)
S: " More?"
K: "No, I couldn't."
S: "You're not on a diet?"
K: "No, no, no. God no. Um, this was great. Not just the food, everything.
And uh, I've never met anybody like you before."
S: "That's because there... there is no one." (He
laughs)
K: (laughing) "Oh well. Don't act all modest or anything."
S: "So where's your boyfriend?"
K: "What?"
S: "You must have somebody you like."
K: "No, I've given up on boyfriends for a while."
S: "What about men? Boys wouldn't appreciate you anyway. They don't have
the depth or the capacity. You probably scare them to death huh? But that's not
what happened… this relationship. You ended it right?"
K: "Yeah, how did you know that?"
S: (shrugs slightly) "I can tell."
K: "How?"
S: "You're like a butterfly just coming out of a cocoon, looking at the
world with brand new eyes. You're ready to fly baby and where you're going the
kids you know can't follow."
K: "Not exactly sure I understand what you mean."
S: "You have magic. Not everybody has that, only very special people. And
that magic it makes all the difference. It attracts and it repels. People are
gonna wanna touch you but they're too afraid to come too close, you know why,
because it's like fire in a way. Do you know who you reminded me of the other
night when you were on that stage?"
K: "Who?"
S: "There was this famous stripper once, before both our times. They used
to say she could drive an audience crazy just by taking off her glove. That's
what you did the other night. You had the men at this place on their feet."
K: "Really I did?"
S: "Yeah, you have magic! Self-possession. Confidence. You're not afraid to
be in your body, to look at yourself. Am I right Carrie?"
K: "What?"
S: "You're not afraid to look at yourself."
K: "No, I don't think so."
S: "Why don't we uh… put it to the test."
