(Sonny opens the door… It's Karen)
K: (starts to walk in but stops) "Hi."
S: "Hi."
K: "Hi. I shoulda called before but…"
S: (places his arms around her and walks her in) "No no hey it's ok.
You…" (looks at Stone then back at Karen) "…you're
alright?"
K: "Yeah…" (places a strand of hair behind her ears)
"No…
S: "What?
K: "No… I don't know." (She looks at Stone and then at Sonny
again. Sonny motions with his head for Stone to get out! lol)
St: "Um I gotta go check out something downstairs. I'll see you two
later." (He walks out)
S: "Come on in. Come on in." (he walks towards the bar… she
follows) "So why are you… why are you so stressed?" (He
starts to pour her a drink)
K: "My mom told him that he could spend the night at our apartment."
S: (stops pouring the drink and looks at her) "Not that Ray
character." (Karen nods) "Why does he have to stay at your
place?" (he hands her the drink)
K: "I don't know. Something about he lost his job or got kicked out of his
apartment or something. I don't know. All I know is that he's gonna be sleeping
on our couch. I can't go home knowing that he's gonna be out there. I can't go
home and just fall asleep."
S: (shrugs slightly) "Well you don't have to."
K: "I can stay here?"
S: "Is that what you want?"
K: "Yeah"
S: "Well it looks like you'll be spending the night with me."
Scene 2
(Sonny and Karen sit on the couch)
K: "Sure it's okay for me to stay here?" (gasps) "What
about Stone?"
S: "He's with his brother. You can have his room."
K: "Oh. Um… thank you." (places her drink on the table)
"I don't know what I'll do without you."
S: "Well you don't have to worry about that do you." (dimpled)
"Why don't you call your mother and you know… tell her that you're not
coming home tonight."
K: "That's a good idea." (she reaches over and picks up the
phone… she turns it on) "What should I tell her?"
S: (shrugs as Karen begins to dial the numbers) "Whatever you
usually say."
(Karen sighs as the phone begins to ring)
