Sonny Asks Karen On A Date

Background: Sonny calls Kelly's looking for "Carrie". Ruby picks up the phone as Jagger watches
R: "Carrie? There's no one named
Carrie here."
K: "Oh Ruby, that's... that's for me."
R: "Oh, excuse me!"
K: "Hello?"
S: "Guess who."
K: "Sonny. Hey, ah, you know you really shouldn't call me here."
S: "That's where you're at, isn't it?"
K: (slight laugh) "The flowers are gorgeous. Thanks."
S: "You liked them?"
K: "Yeah yeah, I liked them a lot."
S: "Prove it."
K: "How?"
S: "Have dinner with me tonight."
K: "Dinner? I would love to but I can't."
S: "Well if you want to, why not?"
K: "I'm kinda holding down a couple of jobs."
S: "All the more reason to grab some time to yourself. You're much too
young and way too beautiful to spend every waking minute doing things for other
people. Who does things for you?"
K: "Well, I don't..."
S: (interrupting) "Me that's who! Come on. Let me take good care of
you. It'll be a nice change for you. I promise." (Karen doesn't answer)
"You wanna say yes Carrie, I can hear it in your silence."
K: (smiling) "Yes I do. But..."
S: "Well... but, but what? I hate that word. All right, let me lay it on
the line for you here. Either you have dinner with me, or in exactly one hour
HUGE, extravagant, extremely difficult to explain floral arrangements will be
sent to you every sixty seconds until you do."
K: "Okay, I get it."
S: "I knew you'd see it my way. I'll pick you up at eight?"
K: "No…" (looks at Jagger) "Um... I think it'll be
better if I met you somewhere."
S: "When a gentleman takes a lady out to dinner, it's customary that he
pick her up."
K: "Uh huh. So do you always play by the rules?"
S: "Only mine. How about eight o'clock? Café down on River Street?"
K: "I know where that is."
S: "All right. Bye."
