Hi there I'm Amanda and this is my diary of my SRS experience and NOW my wonderful new life!
I was Gender Dysphoric (born with Benjamin's Syndrome) - Today I live a 100% normal life. Most of my friends don't know what I have done to get where I am in life. It is a "quiet" achievement I sometimes wish I could shout as loud as possible as I am so happy, but in doing so would bring a certain degree of unhappiness. Thanks to many wonderful people in my new life, including my husband, my ex partner (BUT now best friend and sister as we still know we shall be in each others lives for ever) and my new friends I have made in the last 5 years!

So the point of this page is for me to shout out and let people know I made it and there is a normal life for them if they wish to find it. But I shout with a big warning attached to it, there is much more to transitioning then simply the operation, so consider everything very carefully. So please research and continue to read. When you consider the surgery - please re-read what I have written, so you will have at least some idea of what maybe is ahead. Also remember everyone is different - I had a slow recovery - others bounce through this all as if it was only a tooth extraction. I feel I have grown so much in the last 3 years since the op - much more than I have ever imagined - but no-one will understand that statement until you also reach this milestaone in your own growth.

Many people helped me get where I am today and I am torn between helping others and the desire to get on with my life and forget alot about my past. The solution has been to write down what I have been through so others may read it. Additionally, I have not been able to find much written about people's experiences of the surgery, so I am placing mine here to help educate. Anyway please consume my story and I hope you find some important information there for yourself.

Well I think it is time to cease the updates to this page (NB See footnotes below) - I will continue to recover & work my way through these last complications (that you can bet on). I feel I have reached a stage were I have completed my 5 year plan & it is now time to tackle a new set of goals in life. At the moment I am concentrating on the designing & construction of my new home & with my wonderful husband. This I am sure will become our next 5 years goal. For all the emails of encouragement - I thank everyone.

Good bye for now

Amanda

FOOTNOTE

To say I have experienced a lot of problems is untrue, and everyone who has read my web page comes away with different opinions. Aesthetically, the operation has been wonderful. The sensitivity of everything is excellent & certainly beyond my expectations.

If I had to go through this whole ordeal again I would make exactly the same decisions again. Mr Walker's team is an extremely skilled group of people and I have absolute respect for them. This opinion is unaffected by the difficulties I experienced.

There are still a few more updates to come yet!
