"Without a Net"

Okay, so Ally is now dating a father&son tagteam. Odd? Yes. But this is Ally McBeal we're talking about, where "odd" is her middle name. Or is that John Cage's middle name? Anyway, that isn't Ally's only problem since Kimmy, her old law school chum, has now sued her. Well, Ally's no fool and goes and hires Larry Paul to represent her! Yay, Ally! Larry showed some more good signs when Ally started acting a little wacko in front of him when she was hearing music in her head, and he didn't run away. In fact, he played off of it! When she was bobbing her head back and forth and he started to too, like he could also hear the music, that cracked me up. LOL.

Getting our first glimpse of Larry in the courtroom.... we find out he is a very smooth litigator. He probably would have won the case dismissal he requested if Ally had been completely honest with him about the case. But of course, then we would have never seen Ally realize that she had it bad for Mr. Larry. Great scene when Larry scolds Ally and she says in her head that when he got strict with her, she realized that she liked him.

Later, when Renee told Ally that she checked up on Larry and found out he was married.... I have to admit that I was crushed. Renee wouldn't lie to her best friend. She would protect her. And Larry married?? Damn...... Deep down, I knew there had to be some kind of mistake because I was positive the show would pair them off romantically together. But what was it? Well, we find out later when Larry tells Ally that he's divorced. Well, it's kind of a strike against Larry but everyone has a past and everyone makes mistakes. Just ask Ally McBeal about that! I'm very curious about his ex-wife. It's been mentioned that she still lives in Boston, but we never heard anything more about her. Who wants to bet that she shows up before the end of this season?

Anyway, Ally is naturally jealous when she sees Nelle out on a date with Larry. Why Nelle??? Of all the people, why did it have to be Nelle??? I'm sure Ally was thinking that. Nelle and all that hair of hers. Thankfully, Larry couldn't see much beyond the hair because he ended up dumping her on her behind the second he saw that he had a chance with Ally. Smart man :)

I absolutely loved this episode. While the first episode with Larry had me sit up and take notice, this episode began reeling me in under his spell. We got to see more of Larry's personality -- witty, confident, sweet, romantic, and a bit of a smart @ss. My favorite character traits! The scene when he tells Ally to ditch the father/son act, he'll declare Nelle void, and they can have dinner that night is CLASSIC.

When we see Ally walking by herself at the end of the episode and then they pan the camera to show that Larry is walking next to her, it actually caused my heart to flutter. It was at that moment that I knew that this was going to be one heck of a couple. And I couldn't WAIT for the next episode.

The title "Without a Net" is appropriately named. Sometimes when you're with somebody, it might not feel right. And this person could be terrific -- nothing wrong with them -- nice, generous, sweet, yadda yadda yadda. But if you don't get butterflies floating around in your stomach whenever you're around them, you know that it'll never grow into anything that strong. When Ally and Larry were out on their date having dinner, she remarked in her head that it was great to have that wonderful feeling of terror.... that feeling when you're up there without a net.
