In the original script of "Home Again", Larry was indeed going to propose to Ally! It was going to happen during the scene at the restaurant with Ally and her mom. The waiter was to bring Ally a cobbler. She would begin to eat it and then see the ring. Larry then came over, got down on one knee, and proposed. And Ally said yes!

And that's why the season finale is titled "The Wedding".
