“I hate to do this to you, especially with the long week of filming we’ve already had, but I’ve made a few more changes to your final scenes. Do you guys think you can get them down before tomorrow? We’re going to be under the gun to get these completed tomorrow. In fact, each scene is pretty much going to have to be a clean take if we’re going to get done. Here are your revised scripts. See what you can do.” And his attention was immediately elsewhere, as he prepared for the filming of Peter and Portia’s scenes. Robert looked over the script, “Wow, he really has made some changes. There’s a whole lot of new material here.” “How in the world are we going to learn all this before tomorrow? I’d better go call Liam’s nanny and see if she’s available to stay tonight. I have a feeling I’m going to be up most of it, trying to learn this,” Calista agreed. “Hey, Calista, I’ve got an idea,” as the beginning of a plan began to take shape in his mind. “What is it Downey?” Calista asked suspiciously. She hadn’t called him that since last spring. That had always been one of her ways of showing her affection for him, before. Robert didn’t think she had even noticed she had said it, but it had certainly caught his attention. And he realized that he was making more headway than he had thought. “I’d better watch my step carefully,” he thought. Robert held up his hands, “Hey, I got your message earlier. I’m not trying to pull anything. I just thought that it might be easier to learn all this if we were to run the lines together. All these scenes are just between the two of us and David did say we were going to need clean takes tomorrow. I think it would be a good idea to practice together so we’ll be prepared for each others take on the lines. Seriously, this is going to be a lot of hard work. I think we’re really going to have to work together on this, if we’re going to please David.” “Well . .” Calista hesitated, thinking, before she finally said “you might be right. What did you have in mind?” “Well, if you can get the nanny for tonight, how about coming to my place. I’m not supposed to be away from the center, without my counselor and I really don’t think you want her camped out at your place. Plus we might disturb Liam. We’ll pretty much have the place to ourselves, except for the ever present staff and counselors. Shouldn’t be disturbed and we’ll be able to concentrate. Come on, I’ll even cook us some dinner,” Robert said with a smile. “I guess you’re right. Let me go phone Jennifer. I’ll need to stop by my place first to see Liam, ok?” “Hey, better go ahead and bring things with you for tomorrow. There are plenty of extra rooms and you never know how late it’ll take us tonight. No sense on you driving back home, when there’s perfectly good beds at the center. Hey . . .” catching the look Calista was throwing his way, “I was not talking about mine! I’m all business.” “You better be, buster!” Calista said, smiling, as she left to go back to her dressing room. “Yeah, I’m all business, until we get business taken care of, and then, watch out Cal!” Robert thought to himself, with a smile. “And it never hurts to set the stage.”
