Julia Butterfly Hill
Two years ago, Julia Butterfly Hill ascended a 1,000 year old redwood which was set to be harvested from Headwaters Forest in northern California. This was a protest against Pacific Lumber Company, owned by Maxxam Corporation for their part in the clearcut and destruction of acre after acre of old growth redwoods and delicate eco-systems. She returned to solid ground last December where she met cheers, jeers, and an endless array of reporters, tv appearances and a book deal. This portion of this site is a tribute, I suppose, to her strength of character and conviction. Even more important, it is to bring attention to what is left of the ancient forests and all its inhabitants.
