Hello and Welcome!

We are so glad that you decided to become a member of the AllGirlScouts community. This message is intended to give you some additional information that will help to make your membership as enriching as possible. You may want to print this information for future references.

Our website for AllGirlScouts Members is located at http://www.geocities.com/allgirlscouts/. Please be aware that some pages are being redone and are not currently available. A message will be posted to the list as new pages are added. This site is what sets AGS apart from other email forums. You will find additional resources and information, including the AGS Clusters - mini groups within AGS (see the section on Clusters below), the AGS Moderators, and more.

Please review the AGS List Rules and the section on List Netiquette. Some simple do's and try not to's will help to make your experience more enjoyable.

In addition to the daily messages that you will receive by e-mail, there is much more information available for your use. And once you become more comfortable being a part of the greatest group of "Girl Scout and Girl Guide Leaders" in the world, please feel free to add your suggestions, files, and favorite links to this vibrant list.  Please Note: For your safety, and the safety of your family and troop members, DO NOT post your home address, home telephone number, the location of your troop meetings, directions to your house or other personal information that might compromise the safety of your family or troop members. Check the guidelines in Safety Wise and on the GSUSA website regarding Troop Internet Sites and, if you can't place it on your Troop or SU website, don't post it to the list either. You are an important part of the AGS "family". Your safety is our #1 priority.

To use any of the additional features at the Groups site, you will need a Yahoo! ID.

Main Page - On this page you are able to modify your subscription and your profile. There are also links to all of the other resources available at AllGirlScouts. AGS is a very large, very active email forum. If you find that you are overwhelmed by the amount of mail that you receive, please consider changing your subscription to digest (you will receive one or two daily emails which contain all of the day's messages) or to Web Only (you will need to go to the Yahoo! Groups site to read the messages that have been posted). (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AllGirlScouts)

Messages - This link will bring you to the archives. You can search past messages by date or by thread (topic). (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AllGirlScouts/messages) Please Note: Yahoo! Groups' search engines leaves much to be desired, so if you don't find what you are looking for, feel free to send a message to the list.

Files - This is a section for members by members. The files contain information that can assist you with crafts, songs, camping information and more. Many of our members have graciously shared their hard work with us in order to make our jobs easier. If you have a file you would like to share, feel free to add it to the appropriate folder. If there is no folder covering your topic, you can create one, or you can post it directly. We ask that you upload your files in plain text format in order to save space, as Yahoo! limits the space allotted for files. (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AllGirlScouts/files) Please note: The files at Yahoo! Groups were overflowing, so some of the files were moved to the AGS Resource Center (http://www.geocities.com/ags_resource_center/)

Polls - Occasionally, we like to poll our members about subjects that affect many of us at one time or another, or just to see "what if". Questions are posted to the list, but you must respond to the poll at this site (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AllGirlScouts/polls).

Links - This page contains links to other sites that contain information related to Girl Scouting, links to other Members' sites, Council sites, and all of our "favorites". Please feel free to share your favorite links with us by posting them to the appropriate folder, or directly. As an added benefit, by sharing and listing your favorite Girl Scout related links, we all have a place to find them in the event of an uncooperative computer. (http://groups.yahoo.com/AllGirlScouts/links)

Chat - This is a real time chat room where you can get to know other members better, and discuss the topic of the evening. Chats are currently scheduled for Tuesday and Friday evenings. You may enter the chat room at any time to see if anyone is available, or you can post a message to the list to see if other members will be available for a chat at other times.  Our Tuesday and Friday Evening Chats are held in the Yahoogroups chatroom at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AllGirlScouts/chat.

Photos - If you have a photo to share with the group you can upload it in the appropiate photo album at http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/AllGirlScouts/. Space in the photo album is limited by Yahoo! so please be considerate and only post a few photos at a time. Note: The Moderators reserve the right to remove older photos if storage space becomes an issue.

Clusters - AGS Clusters are mini-groups within AGS. You can join or leave as you choose. It will not affect your main AGS membership. Each cluster has it's own Moderator - all members of AGS who host each of the programs. If you would like to join a particular cluster, or have questions about it, please contact the moderator at the email address given for the particular cluster. Moderators do occasionally post reminder messages to the list, and members are encouraged to post messages as well. More information about the Clusters will become available on the website.

There is a wealth of information for you here at AllGirlScouts, and we encourage your participation to whatever extent you feel comfortable. Please do not hesitate to post any questions or concerns you may have to the list. Our members are the cream of the crop, and any and all of us are here to assist you in any way that we can. Your contributions to this Girl Scout Community, no matter how small, will help to make a difference to us all.

On behalf of the AGS Moderator Team, welcome to the AllGirlScouts "Cyber Service Unit"!
