Any suggestions??

Bron went straight back to work, deep in thought. She couldn't stop her mind from going over all the obvious questions. All the what ifs? What if Steph hadn't died? Would he still have loved her? Would she have loved him? What if she hadn't had the accident, would he still have told her how he felt? What if she never realised she felt the same way?
"...ummm, nurse. I can't feel my arm anymore. I think you've pumped hard enough."
Bron snapped back into reality.
"Sorry, Jesse, I should have been concentrating. Are you okay?"
"Yeah. The question should be, are you okay? You look like my best friend when she got dumped by her boyfriend last week! Boy troubles?"
"Something like that," mumbled Bron, drifting back into her thoughts of Ben. She wanted to tell someone, but who? She could tell Connor, but then, he had confessed his feelings for her once, and she didn't know how he'd take it if she suddenly realised she loved Ben. Loved him unlike anyone before, certainly not Luke.
Speaking of 'scalpel man', he came into the room to check how Jesse was going. He poked and prodded without any real consideration for his patient, charted some things, and managed, "Yeah, good, I'll come back and see you later."
"It's not him, is it?" asked Jesse, sensing the still somewhat hostile feeling lingering in the air.
"No, but that's a story for another time," she smiled. "Can I get you anything?"
"No thanks."
Bron went to leave, turning to shut the door.
"Good luck!" Jesse called to her.
Bron gave her a smile through the glass, as she set off to the drug room. On the way she ran into Jared, who asked if there was anything wrong, and she just shrugged him off. Out of the corner of her eye she could see an all too familiar figure, busily working behind the desk. She had to blink twice until the image of Steph disappeared.
"Come on Bron," she mumbled quietly to herself, "You have to talk to him. Make him realise what he'll be missing."
She entered the drug room as Mitch rushed out, eager to show Luke up. Surgery was NOT the be all and end all of everything, and Mitch wanted to prove that his diagnosis could be fixed easier than that.
He rounded the corner, and came face to face with Claudia MacKenzie.
"Oh, great!" he whispered under his breath.
"Dr Stevens!" she said in her patronising tone. "Where's Sister Sullivan? I'll need to talk to you as well."
"She's in her office."
"Well come on, you probably know why I'm here, it's about time I..."
Mitch tuned out, following her into Terri's office, just to witness the outpour of Claudia's latest complaint. It could be a very animated argument. She angered him thoroughly, and he thought that if he needed to be wound up before attempting to reason with Luke, what better way?
Bron decided to take her lunch break, and went down to the cafeteria to get some peace. She wasn't in her usual mood, right at the gossip front. Instead she was thinking about Steph. The one thing that was keeping her from Ben, was the thought of Steph, and the thought that she'd never compare to her. How could he love someone like her, after being married to such a perfectionist as Steph was? But she knew she couldn't change the way she felt about Ben, and if he really did love her, as he said he did, they could make it work.
Once again she was lost in thought, unaware of what was going on around her. Someone sat down on the opposite side of the table, and she looked up into the brown eyes that always made her melt'
"Hi Ben. Listen..."
"Ssshh. Bron, I'm going to miss you, but you can't change my mind."
"What if I said that I was stupid in assuming...in assuming..."
"That I'd compare you to Steph."
"Hmmm. You know me too well." Bron picked at her sandwich, her eyes glued to the white bread and filling. She didn't dare look up at him, as she felt she'd fall apart at the sight of his handsome face.
"I just meant, I'm sorry. I love you, too," she whispered, finally lifting her eyes to look into his. And even though she thought she'd collapse at the mere thought of him, when she looked in his eyes she just grinned.
He smiled back at her, his face illuminated in the midday sun. "You know, Bron, maybe I will have to change my mind!"
