Summary: Terri and Mitch share a forbidden kiss.
Author's Notes: Located after the story.
Terri's full lips burned as she gently closed the door of the doctor's lounge
behind her. Gradually her awareness of herself and her surroundings began to
increase back towards normal, and she realised that the warmth was not limited
only to her lips.
Suddenly mistrustful of her body's will to remain upright, Terri leaned
heavily against a nearby wall, still less than a metre beyond the closed door,
behind which she had left Mitch Stevens. Left him standing there alone,
without even so much as a single backward glance.
It had been the most incredible kiss of her existence. It had begun softly,
gently, quickly escalating. At its peak it was probing and insistent. It was
the sort of kiss that left you without a single coherent thought in your head,
beyond how amazing that single moment was. The sort of kiss that was all
consuming, drawing two souls together in a desperate attempt to merge both
into a single entity. The sort of kiss that had left her with the distinct
feeling that Mitch wanted to possess her entirely.
It was the sort of kiss that left your body weak at the knees, made you cling
to the other person. Partly out of physical necessity, but partly because you
desperately wanted them to know that you longed to possess them too.
All too soon it had been over. Reluctantly, their lips had parted. Terri had
stood perfectly still for a few moments, her mind capable of focusing on
nothing but the taste of Mitch's lips, and the sensation of his tongue gliding
and duelling with hers. Their bodies were still so close. Well within the
boundaries of polite personal space. Terri drew in a long, tremulous breath,
reveling in Mitch's unique, masculine scent.
Neither moved for a moment. Then Terri felt Mitch shift slightly. Felt him
move to press his lips against her flushed forehead in a final, breathtakingly
beautiful and utterly simple gesture. Finally rational thoughts began to
return to Terri's mind. She was pulled reluctantly out of her foggy daze.
Reality inconveniently began to intrude once more, willing Terri to turn and
run, but her feet seemed not to have regained their connection to her brain,
and she remained firmly rooted to the spot. She knew distantly that she should
be feeling some sort of horror over what they had done, but still in her
slightly drugged state, the illicit nature of their encounter served only to
make her tremble more. The shock she had looked for to pull herself out of
this situation once and for all, eluded her still.
In the end it took all of Terri's strength to pull herself out of the trance
she had fallen into. Dimly she realised that she had to send this man home to
his wife. This man that she loved with every fibre of her being and then some.
This man, who, only a few seconds earlier, had been kissing her like she was
the only woman in the world.
Terri knew that she had barely enough energy and strength left to try to pull
herself away one more time. Mustering all the conviction she had, she finally
turned and walked quickly to the door, still open from her entry a few minutes
earlier.
She did not stop walking until the door was safely closed behind her, so
afraid was she of her legs refusing to carry her from the room.
She did not look back at Mitch's face at all during her escape, partly not
wanting to see the guilt and remorse that must be played out across his
features. But mostly afraid that she might not see guilt or remorse there at
all.

Big thanks go to Martine, who drove out to my house in the middle of the night
just to show me the amazing kiss. Heehee. ;)
