You’ve got work today and you have 20 minutes to have a shower and get ready and get your ass in their.” said Ben trying to wake Bron up. “Huh? What you say, Ben?” said Bron rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. “I said, get up because you don’t have much time to get ready for work and get in there, Bron.” “OH SHIT! WHAT’S THE TIME?” “It’s 8:30 and you start at 9 Bron.” “SHIT BEN! WHY DIDN’T YOU WAKE ME EARLIER?” yelled Bron running into the bathroom. “Um because you told me last night to let you sleep in and then wake you up when its like 20 minutes before your shift starts.” Yelled Ben as he followed her into the bathroom. “BEN I WAS JOKING AND MAYBE HALF PISSED! YOU SHOULD KNOW ME BETTER THAN THAT.” “Bron! I’ve only been seeing you for like 6 months. How can a man know his girlfriend that well in such a short period of time!” “SHORT PERIOD? BEN WE WORKED TOGETHER! WE’VE BEEN FRIENDS FOR LIKE CENTURIES AND YOU SAY YOU DON’T KNOW ME?” Bron yelled at Ben as she stepped out of the shower. “Well yeah. You’ve changed a bit after you broke up with Luke and since you went back to nursing.” Bron looked shocked as she grabbed the towel out of his hands. “Ben. I have changed a bit but that doesn’t mean you don’t know me still.” “Um yeah it does Bron. I need to know you so I can get along with you and make you happy.” “Ben you make me happy. You make me enjoy waking up to you every morning and being with you everyday makes me fill with happiness.” Bron started crying, as she knew Ben wanted to brake up with her. “Yeah I know I make you happy but being with you doesn’t make me happy.” Bron started to cry and slapped Ben on the face and walked off into her room and lied on her bed crying. Ben knew he hurt her, so he grabbed his things and went to work. Couple of days later in Ward 17. “Hey Bron. BRON!” yelled Terri in the tearoom. “Huh, Huh. What Terri?” Bron yelled as she woke up. “What’s up with you? You haven’t been too good for a couple of days now. Everything ok with you and Ben?” “Yeah. Everything’s ok with us.” Bron knew everything wasn’t ok and started to cry. “Hey Bron. What is going on? You can tell me you know.” Terri spoke with a comforting tone and hugged Bron. “Ben said I didn’t make him happy, which means I don’t show him that I love him! But I do Terri.” “Yeah I know you do.” “But I guess he doesn’t see it with that thick head of his.” Bron said trying to laugh and to make a smile. “So what happened when he told you that?” “I was shocked, so I slapped him and walked off and then he left for work. And, I haven’t seen him since and I don’t intend to. I still remember our first date, Terri and how happy he was. I thought I was making him happy by telling him that he is special for taking me there just for me but I guess I was wrong.” Bron started crying and ran out of the tearoom and out of the hospital. Bron ran and fell under a tree and started crying. Scott saw her from the ambulance base and ran over to see if she was ok. “Hey Bron, you ok?” asked Scott looking very unsure of things, “Yeah, I’m fine. Just being stupid.” Bron sat up against the tree and wiped her tear away. “Oh, ok then. You sure you’re ok? You want me to get Ben?” “NO NO. Don’t. I don’t wanna see him.” “Why? He’s your boyfriend. He should be here for you, Bron.” “No he ain’t anymore.” “Why? What happened? Was he being the wanker that he is?” “Yeah I guess so! We broke up a couple of days ago. I guess he didn’t love me anymore.” “Oh ok then.” Scott stood up and kissed Bron on her forehead. “Hey, look. If you need anything, I’m just around the corner if you need me, ok?” “Yeah, thanks Scotty.” “OI SCOTT! WE’VE GOT A CALL OUT! SO GET IN THE CAR!” yelled Ben as he hopped into the ambulance. Ben saw Bron and waved to her. Bron waved back but it was hard for to make it up. Couple of days later. Ben walked into Ward 17 looking for Bron. “Hey Terri. Where’s Bron?” “Umm she’s in the tearoom. Why what’s going on?” “Nothing. Just need to sort a few things out with her. That’s all.” Ben walked into the tearoom and saw Bron sipping her coffee and looking at something in her wallet. “What ya looking at?” asked Ben trying to get Bron’s attention “Nothing. Nothing to do with you anyway.” Snapped Bron. As Bron was closing her wallet up, Ben saw what she was looking at. It was a photo of them. “Hey Bron, look I’m sorry about last week and all. I didn’t mean to.” “Mean to what Ben? Didn’t mean to make me feel like shit for the last week. Didn’t mean to make me feel bad about myself. Didn’t mean to make me feel not good about trying to get in another relationship and feeling that I’ll make that man unhappy like I did to you?” snapped Bron as she started to cry. “HEY BRON! HOLD UP THERE! I didn’t mean any of that and I think I didn’t intend to. Anyway, what I was meant to say was that, I love you Bronwyn Craig. But I said that you didn’t make me happy because I couldn’t bring myself to tell you that as I didn’t know myself at the time. But I’ve had a lot of thinking and my feelings towards you is, Love and that is a true feeling coming from my heart.” “OH MY GOD BEN! You have just said the most sweetest, ridiculous, loving thing ever to come out of that big mouth of yours.” Bron began to cry and ran up to Ben and kissed him passionately and hugged him so tight that he felt his ribs crack. “OH BEN” Bron kissed Ben and Ben kissed her back. Terri walked in and saw them hugging. “Looks like things are patched up hey?” “Yeah, they are.” “Are you guys going to go out on your first date again?” asked Terri giving a little smirk. “HUH? First Date? Terri, that’s already happened!” Bron and Ben laughed at her. “Well, yeah it has but now that you guys had broken up and now back together, you have to go out on you first date again. Get me?” “Yeah we get you Terri.” Terri walked out feeling stupid for suggesting the idea. “So, where shall we go on our first date?” asked Bron thinking of a nice place where they went to last time. “Um, well I was thinking of a nice romantic, gorgeous place that we went to last time! What about you, Where you wanna go?” “Um I was thinking that same thing!” “Well, how about tonight then. They say tonight there will be more fireflies than the last time we went. So it’ll be more special and more romantic.” “Sounds great.” Bron was pleased that Ben and her were back together. She kissed him and hugged him and whispered in his ear… “I love you too Ben Markham.” THE END. For real.
