It had been a week now, seven long days since Terri had lost her soul mate. She was emotionally drained, she couldn’t think, couldn’t even function. All she could do was sob, all she could do was cry out Mitch’s name, all she wanted was Mitch. She needed his warm arms around her cold body, she needed to hear him say ‘I love you’ in that familiar way, she needed him.
Terri lay on the bed with Mitch’s letter in her hands, his stethoscope around her neck and continued to think about the man she had spent more than 10 years pining for, the only man she had ever truly loved. She couldn’t believe that he was gone, it had been so quick, she had only just gotten him back when fate took him away from her again.
She remembered his last words, they were so clear in her mind. Tears began to fall down her face as she heard his voice echoing “I never once stopped loving you.”
Terri finally sat up, she knew what she wanted, she wanted Mitch.. he was all she ever wanted. As she made her way to the bathroom she stopped at the dressing table and grabbed a framed picture of Mitch. She looked into his eyes as her own filled with tears yet again “Not long now Mitch.. I’ll be with you soon” she whispered.
Rummaging through the medicine cabinet in the bathroom she grabbed whatever she could find. She had stumbled across some of Mitch’s pain relief tablets as well as other potentially deadly tablets. Slowly she mixed a concoction of tablets.
“I’m doing the right thing aren’t i?” she asked herself softly and suddenly she heard it “Sullivan”. She turned rapidly to where she thought the voice was coming from but he wasn’t there, Mitch was no where to be found.
Terri sat down on the floor and took some deep breaths before whispering “You were all I ever wanted Mitch” and taking the deadly dose of tablets.
Terri lent against the bathtub clutching the picture of Mitch in her arms as her eyes continued to let the tears roll down her face. She was beginning to feel ill now, everything in sight was starting to spin and swirl before her.
“Mitch” she sobbed continuously “Mitch where are you?”. She was starting to feel worse by the minute “Miiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttcccccccccccchhhhhhhhhhhhhh” she cried again, but he still wasn’t there for her.
Terri lay on the bathroom floor staring up at the swirling roof, it was going round and round and round at a very fast pace, it was almost like a whirl pool. Suddenly she saw a white light, then she saw him, she saw Mitch, he was standing over her, holding his hand out to her “Come on Sullivan, take my hand” he said. Terri smiled up at him, finally he had come, finally they could be together again, after all the pain and agony she had been through they were finally going to be together. As she reached out for his hand she felt the tears fall down her face, but they were tears of joy, all the sadness in her body had floated away.
Mitch slowly helped his beloved Terri up and kissed her passionately “Nothing can tear us apart anymore Sullivan, we’ll be together forever.”
