“Oh god Michael!” Paula screamed as she was flung up against the wall in the living room. Tears were welling up in her eyes whilst she began to tremble uncontrollably as her husband moved towards her again. She began to shake her head as the tears began to fall. “I’m sorry Michael” she began to whisper continuously as he moved closer and closer.
“Your sorry???!!!” Michaels voice echoed through the house as he roughly grabbed Paula by the arm and pulled her up off the ground.
“Yes” Paula said as the grip on her arm tightened. She looked away, she couldn’t look at him any longer, she knew he was going to explode any moment.
“Look at me!!!” He demanded.
Paula slowly turned her head to face Michael. She wanted so desperately to break free and escape, but she knew if she did things would only get a lot worse than what they were.
Michael stared at Paula with such anger in his eyes. He was like a completely different person, yet Paula had seen this person so many times before. “Michael please” Paula pleaded “let me go. I’m sorry, I’ll make you something else for dinner, anything. Just let me go please.”
“You know it doesn’t work like that Paula!” yelled Michael as he roughly shoved her across the room. Tripping backwards over one of Max’s toy trucks, Paula fell onto the couch. Michael began heading towards her, as he continued to yell “I know what you’re bloody thinking! You think this is my fault don’t you?!” He grabbed her and yanked her up off the couch “Let me set you straight! You’re the one making me do this! You’re the one who can’t do a bloody thing right Paula!!!.”
His grip on her arm was getting tighter once again. She began to struggle. “Let go of me Michael!!!” she screamed. Suddenly his fist connected with her face. She fell to the ground rapidly.
Paula lay on the ground with her hand held to her face as tears streamed down her cheeks. Her sobs were not silent and began to aggravate Michael. He once again moved towards her with that glint of anger in his eyes yet again “Shut up!!!” he demanded. Paula tried to do as he asked but couldn’t, she was too upset, she just couldn’t manage it. “I said shut up Paula!!!” Michael demanded again. Paula didn’t even have time to blink before he was punching her painfully around the ribs.
Paula began to cry as the pain penetrated through her body. She knew that she had to get away. Michael was so angry. He had lost control of what he was doing, Paula could see it written all over his enraged face, it was like an evil force had taken control of his body.
With all her strength Paula fought against him. She managed to scramble away from him after scratching the side of his face. She quickly made her way to the front door, not stopping to grab even her car keys. She had to get away and if she had stoped for her keys she wouldn’t have. She didn’t care about the fact that it was bucketing down rain outside or that there were bolts of lightning flashing around. As she ran out the door into the cold, wet climate she heard Michael calling out to her “Get the !#@$ back here Paula!!!.”
To Be Continued.
