Fate

Terri was returning to work after 3 months off to travel and find 
herself, after her leaving the order and Mitch getting married. She got out 
of her car and walked towards the main entrance, there she met von her 
good friend ”hello stranger, nice hair.” Terri smiled, “hey von, how 
are you?” Moments later she walked through the doors of 17 to be greeted 
by Bron, Connor, Jared. She was chatting away to them about her trip, 
when she saw him, he was dresses in a blue check shirt and jeans and was 
as handsome to her as ever. “you look great terri.” All terri could do 
was smile.

That day, as they were catching up the new V.M.O Malcolm Pussle arrived 
in the doors,”some things never change, Sullivan and Stevens in a 
corner somewhere”. Terri didn’t know where to look, Malcolm himself had 
grown quite handsome. Mitch was married now and she just ha dot accept it, 
even if rose still was been a bitch to her.

Later that day, terri was talking to the ward clerk, when she received 
an invitation from Malcolm to go for lunch which she gracefully 
accepted, much to mitchs disappointment and jealousy. As terri and Malcolm 
left, mitch felt his heart sink. He was married and she was single and 
sexy and he would just have to get used to the idea.

Malcolm chatted to terri about old times, when he was an intern and 
mitch was his supervisor. Terri laughed at the old stories, she remembered 
the old days. The time when she and mitch were together and happy, then 
she remembered where she was and whom she was with.

On the ward, the next day, Malcolm asked terri out on a date, which she 
accepted, she was happy with this, but nervous it had been ten years 
sinceshe had been out with a man. Von was happy for her, rose was 
delighted to have her off with somebody else , mitch however was not 
impressed. 

That night, terri was getting ready, she had a black tight dress and a 
pink cardigan on, she looked amazing. Malcolm looked very smart, terri 
kissed him on the cheek as they left for a restaurant. Drinks flowed 
and meals were eaten and they date was going very well.
Malcolm was very happy he had a crush o terri ten years ago, but could 
do nothing for she was dr. stevens girlfriend, now however was a 
different story altogether.
Hours later, terri arrived home, she smiled as she sat on the chair, 
the night was perfect, the company, the food and the ending. He didn’t 
rush her instead he just kissed her hand. Meanwhile mitch whom had found 
out about the date, was lying in bed wondering how it was going and had 
a sick feeling, that Malcolm would have his hands on terri.

Mitch cringed at the fact. He tried to wipe the thought from his mind, 
but he couldn’t. Meanwhile, terri lay in bed and thought about her love 
interest, he made her laugh, she was attracted to him and he was 
attracted to her. She realise mitch was taken and now Malcolm was her chance 
at happiness, she went asleep with a smile on her face.

The next morning terri went to the nurses station to assist change 
over, when the ward clerk handed her a huge box which contained a dozen 
long stemmed roses. Terri read the card and smiled. “terri , thank you 
for the beautiful evening, I would love if you would accompany me again, 
malcolm.” Mitch tried to hide his jealousy and anger, “mate your 
turning green there, you would want to close your mouth.” Von replied.

Later on that day, terri was sitting in the tea room, when mitch 
entered. “terri its good that we can still be friends but..” terri cut in, 
“mitch it is good that we are friends and will always be friends.” Mitch 
felt his heart sink, he was silent towards her for ages and now he was 
all over her.

Terri shut the door of her office and leaned against hit, why did he 
always do this to her, but the truth was she had done it to him, by 
leaving the order on his wedding day. She was with Malcolm now, even though 
she still had feelings for mitch. Her feelings for Malcolm were growing 
and she was happy for the first time in ages. A knock occurred on the 
door. It was von, “terri you get off home now and get ready for your 
date with our v.m.o.

As terri passed the tea room, she saw mitch and rose in an embrace, her 
heart was breaking, he was about to say something and she didn’t let 
him, now he was in his wifes arms and that was were he belonged.

Terri was at home in the bath, when her phone rang, she had her 
cordless in the bathroom, as she answered, she heard breathing down the phone 
and a whisper” god I love you.” Terri smiled it must be Malcolm, she 
thought. Terri proceeded to get dressed for her date. This time she was 
dressed in a black Chinese top and black pants and sandals.

Mitch was at home playing with lucy. She was his life and he loved her 
so much, but h always had a thought in his mind, what would he and 
terri’s baby have looked like if they had of had one. Mitchs mind was off 
in a daze and lucy fell asleep, as rose arrived home.
She kissed mitch on the lips. “So , darling did you hear?” Rose had a 
huge grin on her face. Mitch replied “hear what?” “Pussle and terri out 
on another date and from what I’ve heard its getting serious, he’s mad 
about her, its sweet don’t you think.?” Mitch kissed rose back and only 
thought about terri whilst doing so.

Terri and Malcolm, went to a movie and then to a park for a walk, terri 
gasped as she saw the picnic laid infront of her, lit only by a few 
candles near by.It was beautiful. “oh Malcolm, its beautiful” “not near 
as beautiful as you” he said kissing her neck. Terri began to shiver 
inside. Malcolm sensed this and stopped. He led her to the blanket, full 
of food and champagne. It was romantic and terri felt very special.

Mitch called terri’s mobile but too no answer. He really needed to 
speak to her. Terri leaned in to Malcolm and kissed his lips gently. He was 
careful to kiss her softly back. Terri now had goose bumps. They kissed 
and cuddled for hours, but that was as far as it went. They both knew 
terri wasn’t ready.

Terri arrived home, to be left with a lingering kiss at the door. She 
smiled as he left her. The night was perfect, she really wanted to 
invite him, but couldn’t. Something was stopping her. She took off her 
shoes and sat on the couch thinking about that night. The last time 
anything like that before was the night she slept with mitch. Ten years later, 
she could feel his touch, remember his lips on hers and the feel of his 
broad body.

A week later, the charity ball in aid of children’s oncology, was on in 
the hospital grounds.
Terri was attending with Malcolm, as was mitch with rose. Rose was in a 
beige dress and tried her best to outdo terri. Terr was wearing a blue 
two-tone dress; she was simple but looked fabulous. Malcolm was very 
proud to have terri on his arm. 

As they sat down they noticed mitch and rose also at their table, with 
mitch beside terri aswell as Malcolm. Rose was very put out. Terri 
chatted to both mitch and Malcolm about old times. Drinks flowed and chat 
did too. Mitch were getting on like a house on fire. Much to rose’snd 
malcolm’ disappointment and jealousy.

“Don’t you just hate reunions?” rose laughed and replied especially 
when their not mine.” They then went out to dance. Terri was then talking 
to will an old friend of mitch. She was then out dancing with him, 
however she went to dr. preece’ aid as she was sick in the 
bathrooms.______________________________________________________________

Mitch was not impressed when terri approached him regarding rose 
bi-polar. “ its our business terri no-one else’s.” Terri was angry at his 
behaviour towards her. She left him alone and he knew it. He wanted to 
speak to her so desperately but couldn’t . Terri was in her office all day 
doing paperwork and meetings all day, two of which were with Malcolm.

He and terri emerged from the office laughing and smiling at one 
another. This horrified mitch he was driving her away and malcolm was getting 
her even more. Von saw all this form the sidelines and knew the outcome 
of all this deep down inside. She was well aware that terri did still 
love and she was alos sure mitch did infact still love her.

That day on the ward, terri did not approach mitch once, despite his 
attemptso speak to her. Terri was perfectly okay with roses condition and 
only wanted to help, she didn’t understand what was mitch’s problem 
with her. As she was getting ready to go home a knock came on the door, 
“terri its me, I need to speak to you.” Terri was harshin her reply, “ 
Sorry im on the phone im abit busy at the moment, I will speak to you 
later.
But she didn’t she made sure the corridors were clear before going to 
her car and going home for a weekend off. 
Mitch arrived in for work the next morning determind to speak to terri. 
He waited for her at the nurses station, “bron , is terri got an 
appointment or something?” Bron looked at him “no mitch, shes off all 
weekend, and malcolm is off today at 1-00 so imagine what those two have 
planned”

Mitch went straight to the tea room and called terri. “hello Terri 
Sullivan.” “Terri its mitch , LOOK I REALLY NEED TO TALK TO YOU PLEASE. “ 
Terri sighed and spoke gently, “I dnt think it’s a good idea, im not 
looking for my head to be bit off when I ask a friend if he needs a hand 
especially not you, goodbye mitch. “

Rose knew there was something wrong with mitch at lunch. “mitch darling 
whats wrong?” “oh nothing don’t worry.” He decided to leave it he had 
his own life to lead but he would have to make the peace. Then it 
happened, “mitch im pregnant again” Mitchs jaw dropped “your not?” 

Terri arrived in on Monday , looking refreshed and happy. Mitch walked 
straight into her office and waited for her. Terri sighed as she saw 
him waiting for her. “teri I am only here to tell you im sorry and I 
would like us to stay friends “. Terri looked into his eyes and flashed 
that smile, “okay mitch I accept now I have a lot of work to do” “terri ?” 
“what mitch?” “oh nothing “

Mitch was in a bad mood all day and was rude which he never was. Von 
had a go at him, for being rude to her patient and mitch was asked to 
stand up in court to say he told a patient about an illegal drug. Things 
went from bad to worse and mitch went for a coffee. 
Terri touched him on the shoulder, “im meant to have space when im 
wallowing in self pity.” “am I wasting my time then” They talked and then 
mitch said it “rose is pregnant again. Terri said nothing for she knew 
not to. He asked terri’s advice on all these subjects. “mitch I can tell 
you what to do in your marriage or your career but I can tell you to do 
what your heart is telling you and that’s to stand by your patient”

Terri was the only one who understood him and accepted him for who he 
was andNOT 
Who he wanted to be. Mitch felt relieved after their chat. He also felt 
that his children needed him and made his peace with rose.

Terri went home alone that night, she told malcolm she had a tough day 
and needed space. She opened her old box of photos that fell when she 
opened her wardrobe. Inside were pictures of her an her family and of 
her mitch and some of von.

Mitch was young and full of hair and energy in the pictures, she had 
long curly hair and von had shoulder length blonde hair. Terri smiled as 
she took out a brooch that mitch gave her, it was his grandmothers and 
was beautiful, he always said that it was her something old for their 
wedding day.

Then there was the cork of the bottle of champagne from their first 
night together sexually. Tears streaned from terries face, as she thought 
of the night they split up, it was her past and fears that ended their 
relationship.

Little did she know that mitch still carried the photo of her in his 
wallet. He also had a box like hers but with the blanket from that night 
and the passport photos of them together. Both of them were still in 
love and only terri had the guts to admit it. Although she didn’t admit 
it to mitch.
Malcolm and terri slept together and were still together much to 
mitch’ disgust. 
But one night malcolm admitte to terri he was offered a place in 
America and he had to go, but he wanted her there with him and then he asked 
her to be his wife.
Terri was shocked and declined his proposal, saying that she couldn’t 
leave all saints.

Little did malcolm and rose know, that the day connor left, terri and 
mitch shared a passionate kiss. Both of them were in denial. Neither of 
them spoke about it. Terri stayed in her office and was feeling guilty. 

Rose took an overdose over her suspicions about mitch and terri and 
following that incident was admitted into a mental hospital. Mitch was all 
alone in the house with lucy and he had a lot of time to think why 
terri stayed behind, whilst, malcolm left for America.

One day there was a horrific train crash in Sydney, and many of the 
victims were either killed or seriously injured, both bron and lyle were 
onboard. Bron was injured but was okay.

Lyle was badly injured and mitch had to operate on him on the ward 
however they lost him, mitch was bad after this loss. Mitch had also being 
badly affected for a week previous for Terri was shocked by jared 
negligence, it sared him to death, the thought of losing her. 

Terri went to the mitchs house in order to check on him as his wife 
was sectioned and he was in a bad way. He invited terri in for a drink. “ 
Terri why didn’t you go to America?” Terri looked at mitch “I better go 
now, take care.” Mitch went after her and before she got to the door , 
“terri why?”
Terri had tears in her eyes, “ I didn’t go because, I still love you” 
Mitch looked deeply into terri’s eyes and they met , Terri leaned in 
and they kissed. 

Mitch spoke when the embrace stopped, “will you wait for me?” “I have 
waited ten years what a few more weeks” and with that terri left.

Over the next few weeks terri and mitch tried to hide their new found 
passion and waited for rose’s health to improve.
Indeed it did and terri wanted dinner, flowers and movies. Mitch 
wondered “how much bloody time do you need Terri”

But Mitch was held in quarantine after a suspected case of Ebola. Terri 
was petrified that she had lost him and he was petrified that he had 
lost her. But in the end mitch was given the all clear and terri ran to 
the unit to see him where their lips met for the first time that was 
passionate and led to their night of lovemaking in the shower and in bed.

Terri and mitch were together again at last because it was FATE.
