PART 2
Ready? :) We downloaded the zip file on the intro page. If not... grab them here.
We'll be working in Layers. Easier to make changes if needed without ruining the whole Image.
We have basic knowledge of either Version 6 or 7. I only mention this for the simple reason I wrote this Tutorial using PSP 7.
The Screenshots will differ slightly for PSP 6. Also some of the Effects are found in different areas than those mentioned here. The Settings remain the same for either version. I also tried to keep Screenshots to a minimum. Basically for the settings. The Tut itself is Fast and Easy to do. :)
Remember to SAVE often.
Let's Begin Creating our Card! :)
1) Open a new image 400 x 400 transparent. Flood fill with the Craggy pattern. This pattern originally comes with PSP. I added it to the zip file just in case. You can rename this layer Background if you wish ... mine just says Layer 1.
2) Make sure Layer 1 (Background) is Activated. Right Click>Duplicate - Rename "Heart" - mine just says Copy of Layer 1. Turn off the visibility on Copy of Layer 1... (the Heart Layer). And Reactivate Layer 1 or (Background Layer).
3) Making sure Layer 1 - (Background) is Activated. Go to Effects>Geometric Effects>Spiky Halo with this settings: (In PSP6 you'll find Spiky Halo under >Image>Deformations). Apply.
4) Now Deactivate Layer 1 (Background). Click on the Duplicate Layer or (Heart Layer) to Activate. Go Effects>Plug-ins>EyeCandy>Swirl>using these settings: (For PSP 6 - Go>Image>Plug-ins>EyeCandy> Swirl) Apply.
Note: This is the point of Applying an Effect to Your Heart... with or without EyeCandy...the effects are endless. Play around ... be Creative! :)
5) Effect has been Applied. Duplicate Layer (Heart Layer) is still Activated. Go>Selections>Load from Disk>and load alicor.sel You will now see a Heart with marching ants circling around it. Go>Selections>Invert>Hit your Delete key. You should know see just a Red Heart with marching ants still circling. Do NOT Deselect.
6) Go>Selections>Invert. Apply an Inner Bevel using the settings shown below:
Go>Effects 3D>Inner Bevel>Settings below. (In PSP 6 - Go>Image>Effects>Inner Bevel) Apply. Do NOT Deselect. Go Back and Repeat the Inner Bevel a second time. Do NOT Deselect.
7) Having Applied the Inner Bevel twice and with the Heart still selected. Apply a drop a shadow using the settings shown below. Go>Effects>3D Effects>DropShadow. (In Psp6 - Go> Image>Effects>Drop Shadow) Apply. Do NOT Deselect. Repeat Drop Shadow... only this time change the Vertical and Horizontal settings to -1. Now...you can Deselect. :)
8) With the Magic Wand>Tolerance 0 and Feather 0 click inside the heart. Go>Selections>Modify>Expand 4. With the marching ants on. Go back to Layer 1 (Background Layer) - Activate>Add a New Layer. This will be the Inner Heart. Flood Fill with the Color of your choice. (I am using #FFC0C0). Apply the same Inner Bevel as before (Step 6). Apply it twice as we did with the Red Heart. Deselect.
9) Reactivate the Duplicate Layer (Heart Layer)>Add a New Layer. Make sure this Layer is above the Red Heart Layer. This will be your Accent Border Layer. Go>Selections>Load from Disk>select> alicor1.sel. Flood Fill with the same color you used for the Inner Heart. While still selected. Add a Drop Shadow with the same settings as in Step 7 only this time change Blur to 0. Apply a second time - again changing the Vertical and Horizontal settings to -1. Deselect.
10) Add a New Layer. Go>Selections>Load from Disk>select>alicor2.sel. This will be your Cupid Layer. If needed: Click on the Magnifing Glass>Zoom in and Flood Fill with the Craggy Pattern. I found a Quick Click on Cupid's head will do it. While we still have Him selected...let's add a Drop Shadow. Same exact settings we used previously for the Accent Border.
Only this time just once. Blur still set at>0 Vertical and Horizontal> 1. Deselect.
11) Add a New Layer. This will be your Text Layer. Choose a Font that Pleases You and Type whatever you would like it to say. I typed "Be Mine" and Flood Filled with the Craggy Pattern. While still selected... Add the same Drop Shadow you just previously used on Cupid. Deselect. Merge>Merge Visible
See Ya on page 3... :)
