For this tutorial
you will need Paint
Shop Pro 7 and this
zip file
Unzip the selections on your PSP selections folder, if you don't have it you'll need to create one, and open the pictures in your PSP window.
1. Open a new
image 540x540 transparent, add a new layer, name it back, go to Selections>Load from
disk>back.sel, flood fill with color #CD7777, now change your color to
#FDF0D3, open the textures palette, choose Woodgrain and flood fill twice.
(NOTE: If you
are flood filling with the foreground color the texture has to be on top, for
the background color the texture has to be on bottom, see example)
2. Add a new
layer, name the layer body, go to Selections>Load from disk>body.sel, flood fill with color #EFB4B0,
change color to #CFBF9E and flood fill with the same texture but this time do it
twice.
3. Add a new
layer, name it top1, go to Selections>Load from disk>top1.sel, change your color palette
to pattern choose the aliwoodpattern with the following settings, flood fill.
4. Add a new layer, name it top2, go to Selections>Load from disk>top2.sel, flood fill with the same pattern, but this time change the Angle to 55. Add a drop shadow: Color black, Vertical & Horizontal "7", Opacity "60" and Blur "3.5". With the selections tool: Rectangle, Feather "0", Antialias checked draw a small rectangle on the bottom of the shadow and click the delete key:
5. Add a new layer,
name it top3, go to Selections>Load from disk>top3.sel, flood fill
with the pattern with the Angle 325, add a drop shadow: Color black, Horizontal
and Vertical "0", Opacity "60" and Blur
"2.2".
6. Add a new layer, name it top4, go to Selections>Load from
disk>top4.sel, flood fill with the pattern with the Angle 55, add a drop
shadow with the same settings.
7. Add a new layer, name it top5, go to
Selections>Load from disk>top5.sel, flood fill with the pattern with the
Angle 0, go to Colors>Adjust>Gamma Correction and set it to 0.76, move
this layer under top1 layer.
8. Add a new layer, name it top6, go to Selections>Load from
disk>top6.sel, flood fill with the pattern Angle 0, go to
Colors>Adjust>Gamma Correction and set it to 0.52, move this layer under
body layer.
9. Add a new
layer, name it top7, go to Selections>Load from
disk>top7.sel, flood fill with the pattern Angle 0, do not deselect, with the
airbrush color #6C5636, Shape: Round, Size: 25, Hardness: 90, Opacity: 40, Step:
40 and Density: 26, spray a little bit on the sides, change the color to #CFBF9E
and spray just a couple times on the middle.
10. Add a new
layer, name it top8, go to Selections>Load from
disk>top8.sel, flood fill with the aliwoodpattern2 Angle 0, do not
deselect, with the airbrush same settings but this time change on the
bottom to texture and put the woodgrain texture and spray on the sides, move
that layer on top of the body layer.
11. Add a new
layer, name it top9, go to Selections>Load from disk>top9.sel, and repeat
step 9.
12. Add a new
layer, name it top10, go to Selections>Load from disk>top10.sel, and
repeat step 10.
13. Add a new
layer, name it top11, go to Selections>Load from disk>top11.sel, and
repeat step 9.
14. Add a new
layer, name it top12, go to Selections>Load from disk>top12.sel, and
repeat step 10, only this time change the Angle to 10 on the aliwoodpattern.
Now is time to merge the layers visible, but first make sure they are in the right order:
15. Add a new
layer, name it chime1, go to Selections>Load from disk>chime1.sel, flood
fill with the alicuadros pattern, Angle 7.
16. Add a new
layer, name it chime2, go to Selections>Load from disk>chime2.sel, flood
fill with the same pattern and same angle, go to Colors>Adjust>Gamma
correction and apply 0.64.
17. Add a new
layer, name it chime3, go to Selections>Load from disk>chime3.sel, flood
fill with #CD7777, change your color to
#CFBF9E, open the textures palette, choose Woodgrain and flood fill two times,
go to Colors>Adjust>Gamma
correction and apply 0.68,
add a drop shadow: Color black, Horizontal "0", Vertical
"4", Opacity "60" and Blur "4.7".
18. Add a new
layer, name it
chime4, go to Selections>Load from disk>chime4.sel, flood fill with #CD7777,
change
the color to #CFBF9E and flood fill with the texture only once, add a drop
shadow same settings as step 17.
Turn off
visibility of your merged layer and merge this 4 layers visible.
With your
selections tool same settings as before, draw a rectangle around the top of the chimney
and click inside, only the half top should be selected, go to selections defloat.
Add a new layer and move it under the chimney layer and apply a drop shadow: Vertical "0", Horizontal "-11", Opacity "60" and Blur "12.9", deselect.
Merge your layers visible.
20. Add a new layer and go to Selections>Load from disk>white.sel, using the airbrush: Color white, Shape "Round", Size "40", Hardness "90", Opacity "40", Step "40" and Density "26" paint inside the selection, do not deselect, add a new layer, change the color to #9EB2DA, airbrush same settings only change the Size to "20" and paint around the white, if you think you have too much of blue on any place, change the color to white and paint on top of the blue. Change the color to #CD7777 and the size back to 40 and paint the chicks. Turn off visibility of your merged layer and merge this 2 layers visible.
21. Add a new layer, go to Selections>Load from disk>eyes.sel, flood fill with black and apply an Inner bevel, round preset just change the Angle to "0", apply the Inner bevel twice. Go to selections>load from disk>pico.sel, flood fill with #DEAB3B, apply Inner bevel with the following settings:
Go to Selections>Load from disk>pico1.sel and flood fill with black.
22. Add a new layer and go to Selections>Load from disk>hole.sel, flood fill the same way as step 1, go to Selections>Load from disk>hole1.sel and flood fill with black.
23. For the nest, add a new layer and with the donut preset on your foreground and nothing on your background, draw lines using the draw tool: Freehand Line, Size "5" and Antialias checked and then apply Inner bevel with the following settings:
Merge all layers visible, on a new layer using the rope tube size 30 draw the rope on top; and with the preset shape: Ellipse, antialias checked, size 4 foreground color white draw a little circle and apply a gold preset with BladePro.
Your birdhouse its ready, now you can decorate it the way you want it, if you want to put the sign like mine, I have included in the zip file the chains.
