Ali Vazir Safavi

What I Want You To Know About Me:
Hi, Ali speaking here. I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, and became independent at a young age of 15. I became a businessman in my father's various businesses. I became a world traveler and touched 17 countries. Afterwards, I moved to Japan with Abbas Ali Behmanesh for 1 year then he left for Canada. I lived in Japan for 3 more years. I moved back to Iran and stayed for 3 years. I came to the USA, attended ELI and fell in love with this country and decided to stay. I've been working as an assistant chef at the Hyatt hotel opposite the Washington Convention Center for 3 years. I married my wife, Afshan, in '99. Afshan received her MA in psychology from Gallaudet University. She is currently working as an assistant counselor for a hospital in NJ. I want to major in business administration and accounting. I want to become certified as a chef of my own business and follow in my father's footsteps. I'm a strong supporter of Deaf Culture and want to say for all deaf people: you can be anything you want to be!

My favorite motto is, "the past is the past, let it stay there, the future hasn't arrived yet, don't worry about it. The present is now, enjoy the moment!" This is derived from a famous Persian poem.
