Peck ROG
My son Nick with his ROG
I was hoping to be able to recommend this kit as a place for beginners to start. While the structure is very simple the tiny sticks are easily broken, so unless you have a delicate touch you might want to start with something a little more stout. The plane is primarily intended to be flown indoors, but can be flown outside on dry windless days.
ROG is short for Rise Off Ground, meaning that the plane should take off the ground by itself. I have to tell you that I was absolutely stunned when we flew this plane the first time (outdoors of course). After a couple of trim flights we wound it up and Nick launched it. During the winding sequence I lost count a few times, but continued to pack in the turns anyway. To make a long adventure short, it was the longest rubber powered flight I have been a part of. After the plane became a tiny orange speck in the sky I chased it for a little more than 3 blocks and retrieved it undamaged from the middle of a residential street.
We have built a green ROG for my son Michael, and will be flying them in an indoor site in the next few weeks.
