SIX MONTHS OLD

May 1, 2002

At six months old Alex can wiggle and roll all over the place. He has just figured out how to get himself in the sitting position by getting on his hands and knees and then pushing his hands backwards. He is so excited about knowing how to sit that he is no longer trying to figure out how to crawl. The only problem with that is that he can't usually reach the toy he wants, so he cries.

Speaking of toys, he is really getting into all the different toys. He seems to like the cars the best, particularly the hotweels. The little monster trucks are his favorites. Maybe he gets that from watching Nicholas, because those are Nicholas' favorites too. They seem to be pretty good at sharing them, mostly because there are so many and Nicholas just gives Alex the ones he's not interested in at the moment. They are finally starting to play together. It is so cute to see them sitting face to face playing and talking.

We are still experimenting with food and for the most part Alex is still not interested. He will eat about a tablespoon and then he would rather nurse. We have tried many vegetables, apples, and bananas. I really thought when we tried fruit that things would improve, but it doesn't seem to matter.
Sleeping is really hit and miss. He starts in his crib but usually ends up sleeping with me on the couch. He is taking about 3 naps a day, and if I'm lucky, the second one is at the same time as Nicholas.
