THREE MONTHS OLD

January 31, 2002

At three months old, Alex is really developing his personality. He has turned into a very happy little baby. He will smile and laugh anytime you give him one on one attention. He is very fascinated with Nicholas. He watches him all the time and is willing to put up with having him in his face as long as it means that his big brother is paying attention to him. He also loves to laugh with his daddy. Just seeing Daddy can put a huge smile on his face.

This month Alex rolled over for the first time. He rolled once from tummy to back and twice from back to tummy, all in the same day. He hasn't done it since, but has come close many times. Usually it is when he is straining his neck to watch Nicholas. He also just found his toes.

Alex is a sloppy, picky eater. When he eats he usually has milk dripping everywhere. I have never seen such a sloppy eater. He also only really likes breastmilk. He will drink formula from a bottle, but only if he is really, really hungry and the milk is just the right temperature... quite warm.

He is still a good sleeper. He even seems to have set himself a bit of a routine. He will sleep a 7 hour stretch at night before needing a feeding, and then will sometimes go back to sleep. Other times he feels that it is perfectly acceptable to call 4:00 am morning. I'm not sure I agree. I usually then end up bringing him into bed with me in order to try to con him into letting me sleep just a little longer. But on the brighter side... he is easy to put to sleep and will even fall asleep on his own if he gets tired. We still have him in the carseat at night, but he seems to have grown out of the reflux and we are getting ready to transition him into his crib.
